Production Update #10 - Finishing Up the Ancients, Shifting back to Kickstarter Books!
Progress Tracker - Transitioning back to Kickstarter Production Next Week!
Why only 27 Ancients, not 30?
To answer your first question, we have three Ancient Codex buyers who we haven't been able to get into contact with for the past month or so in regards to either their payments or their book customizations. At this point, their claims on their book spots will become forfeit since we can't maintain reliable contact and haven't received payment. However, we also won't be making these other three books since we need to be getting back to production and now have the breathing space we needed thanks to the successful sale of the other 27 books. However, I'm sure this won't be the last time we see these 3 unclaimed Ancient Codices... who knows, maybe somes clues will surface in future Updates on how to claim these lost treasures... ;)
Why are we transitioning when some Ancients aren't done yet?
As for your second question, we are transitioning back to regular production next week as the remaining Ancient Codices are either being wrapped up this week or the buyer wishes for more time to finish their personal customizations. This simply means that we will squeeze their Ancient Codices in among production a few times over the next few months, but it shouldn't really affect production too greatly.
Now check out this awesome Ancient Codex Pyramid!
Summation of the Ancient Codex Production
Some of the Ancient Codex buyers have already received their books and have nothing but good things to say so far, which is always a wonderful thing to hear. It was a very challenging, yet extremely insightful undertaking that opened many new possibilities in terms of future projects, ideas, and designs! At the very least, the guys and myself are all feeling like grizzled puzzle making veterans after these books. When you artificially age something as intricate as the Codex, you really get an eye for seeing future pain points in the book's operation should a piece not be sanded in a specific way or some piece swells or shrinks, rendering it difficult to use.
While losing our 2nd Hire, Nick, back to school, we were lucky enough to gain a new addition to the team, Tate!
He's taken over the standard labor and pre-assembly tasks with a fresh enthusiasm and desire to help out wherever he is needed. Now with his help and the Ancient Codex production experience under all of our belts, we can burn through Codices like there's no tomorrow!
Now the only problem is trying to make sure I am asking for the correct employee when saying their names, ain't that right Tate, I mean Nate!?
Meet our 2nd Workshop Mascot, Houdini!
Another unexpected turn of events was when we found this little three-legged bugger, abandoned outside the workshop by his mother. At first he tried to run and hide from us until Hanna and I were able to catch him and bring into the shop... only for Hanna to let him go and have him scamper off into one of the dark corners of the room. Next came a series of disappearing acts where he would straight up vanish into thin air despite us looking absolutely everywhere at times, only to find him appearing across the room. Eventually I was able to corner him and get him kenneled until he could learn to understand we meant him no harm.
Of course, Hanna saw this as the perfect opportunity to adopt him as our new cat since she had already been pleading with me to get one in the first place. With his reality-defying, space warping powers, it was only natural to name him Houdini. Now he's best buds with Koda, playing with various puzzle pieces strewn about the floor and always attacking the bubble wrap, die foul plastic!
Nothing much to report just yet, they are still working hard on finalizing the samples.
Anyways, that's all for now! I'm really looking forward to the next update!
Much love from the Codex Team!
Brady, Hanna, Koda, Nathan, Tate, and Houdini!
