About this project
The past 2 and half years have been one of the most intensive, most incredible, experiences of my life. I’ve been part of the inaugural class of the Popular Music Program at the USC Thornton School of Music. As a songwriting major I’ve spent these past 5 semesters working to develop my art and my craft, befriending some of the most talented musicians I’ve ever met along the way. This has resulted in a collection of songs and a band with a sound I’ve never been more excited to share. We’ve been busy arranging and performing here in Los Angeles and with a response that has been motivating, I been inspired to push this project to the next level.
I’m attempting to capture the songs and the band in a professionally recorded 5-7 song EP. This recording would be something to help create a buzz about this project, something to send to music blogs, magazines, and radio stations, something used to book and promote concerts, perhaps even a tour, something to show to industry professionals, and ultimately something to finally get to share with friends, family, and fans.
Unfortunately, recording at a professional level can get to be rather expensive and as a college student, money is not something I see a lot of. Being an independent artist, I am left to pay for the recording, mixing, mastering, replication and distribution of the record. This doesn’t even include paying the band who, because they are my friends, have been graciously donating an enormous amount of their time. So to see this recording actually come to fruition I’m going to need your help. In return not only will you have the satisfaction of helping someone’s dream come true and being an active part of this project, you can receive some pretty cool rewards. [ Cue the rewards to your right → ]
I’m looking to raise about $4000 here on Kickstarter, but anything past that helps this record tremendously. It can mean more studio time to capture more songs, a better mix, better mastering, more copies of final product produced, etc. It can even mean having some money to help promote the record once it’s released.
It’s very important to keep in mind Kickstarter’s ALL OR NOTHING policy. This means that either the project’s fundraising goal is met or NONE of the pledged funds are collected and disbursed. Basically, it’s back to square one. With that in mind, if you feel inspire to contribute to the success of this project, I encourage you to donate and pass this along to anyone you may know who might be interested in helping. Even if you yourself can’t donate, sharing this with people could make a huge difference and would mean the world to me and my band as we pursue our passion.
