Captured: A Burning Man Collaborative Documentary
A collaborative feature documentary created using footage collected from Burning Man participants spanning several years.
This project has been moved and updated, please go here to see the new one.
The idea is simple. There are hundreds of hours of amazing footage of the Burning Man festival sitting around on shelves, seen only by a few friends of the people that shot it. With the backing of the Burning Man organization, I will initiate a large web campaign directed at other Burners. I plan to Capture as many of these video gems as I can and create a Collaborative documentary that ties them all together into an amazing, emotional, fun, visual story. As a professional documentarian and 17 year veteran of the event I have worked on several great documentaries about Burning Man. I believe this is a new way to create a film shot by the participants themselves with a global perspective. An innovative and appropriate approach to capture a gathering based on radical self expression and art. Based on my past experience as a film maker and Burner, I will bring the footage to life and create a wonderful film encompassing the points of view of thousands of people. Kind of like being there. Funds will go toward editing equipment (With lots of storage.) a large ftp to manage the incoming files, facilities to mix and finish, create DVDs, etc.
Of course if you have any of your own footage you would like to be included, send it on! If I use it, you will get a credit in the film. Contact me at email@example.com.
