A heart is a tricky thing especially if you don't have one! The story of Chess was created by the imaginative mind of 7 year old, Symana. The story revolves around a young girl named Elise who gets transported into the magical world of Newland. Completely out of her depths in a world surrounded with action and adventure she has to figure out how to return home in one piece if she can. She is now having to quickly choose sides with strangers she has barely met in order to find her way back. Unfortunately, nothing is as easy as it seems and she has to help them before they can help her.
To raise enough funding to release a physical copy of Chess Volume 2 to keep this wonderful tale going.
Chess Volume 2 will be a full color 28 page comic. This story has been in the making since the creative genius and author was 6 and began dictating her story to her mother nightly. With the artistic help of Jessica Boston Fuller( Bostonology @ Deviantart.com) We want to bring that story to life in its physical manifestation with you!
Here is a glimpse at a few pages from Vol. 1:
Hold up, isn't this KS for Volume 2?
You're entirely correct! We ended up pooling all the money we could spare for an entire year to make Volume 1 happen and took her to Anime Expo for it's very first release. The excitement she got out of seeing people enjoy her story only further solidified her resolve into making the rest of her story come to life in comic form.
How can I help?
Simple! Become a backer, but, we realize sometimes people just can’t contribute. That doesn't mean you can’t help! Please share this as even the smallest thing like passing this on could help us immensely.
Well, where is all of this money going, you might ask. Let me show you!

About the Creative Mind behind Chess
Symana has always been a bit different than other children her age and often times had a difficult time fitting in the social enviroments in public school. She encountered a lot of peer bullying and teasing for her extreme like of super heroes and her rather abnormal vocabulary for her age group. She found a way to help her cope by telling and creating the story of Chess. With her consent, the story was dictated to her mother nightly, which would be transcribed for friends and family to enjoy reading the next day. Being artistically minded we wanted to see her story reach a whole new level of enjoyment by transitioning it into a graphic novel. She intends to keep the story going and has 20 volumes worth of material already posted on tinytales.net.
To: Rick from therickworks.com for the on the spot interview at Anime Expo 2014. Also, for putting this video together for us.
Emily and Justin for their support, without your help we could not have made Volume 1 possible.
Opa, Abuela, Papa and Grandmama for their support and belief in this project and undying devotion to their granddaughter, Symana.
Risks and challenges
We are a small group of people coming together to bring the story of Chess to life. Since we're small and aren't affiliated with any large comic companies we are going to rely solely on self printing places. We really want this project to see the light of day but in order to do that we need your help. We have volume one done entirely and want to get started on volume 2.
As the comic will be printed across the world, there is always the worry of a it being stuck in Customs limbo. Have no fear, we'll build in some lead time in delivery for that!
Only other challenge is that between Kickstarter and Amazon Payments whatever funding we end up with will automatically be 9% less.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
