Ed is a hopeless romantic that invents a device allowing him an infinite amount of attempts to impress the girl of his dreams; however, with each failed first impression he must kill himself before he can go back and try again.
CTRL Z is a science fiction romantic comedy that draws it's storytelling inspiration from the fantastic sci-fi comedies of the 80's. With it's weirdly dark sense of humour, film noir visual aesthetic and hilarious characters the film is sure to be a great time for all who watch it!
Rather than make you read what the film is about (Ugh! who has time for that?!) why not watch a video of James Kennedy (Writer & Director) pitching you his idea for CTRL Z...
Ever since James first sat in a movie theatre as a short, skinny, blonde haired kid he knew he had to be a writer/director! The movies he watched became more than just movies to him; they became the reference point for his visual language. The way he saw the world and the stories he could find within it.
He has always loved small stories about incredible things and CTRL Z is a perfect example of that. Our main character has created a unique version of a time machine, and where most movies would look at the bigger picture, instead he has decided to take a smaller slice out of that story and focus on the interesting minutiae that may be overlooked. What would a hopeless romantic use the device for? How would that change the world? What would his best friend think of it?
WHY SUPPORT THIS FILM?
CTRL Z is a time travel story unlike any other, with great warmth and depth and put's a unique spin on traditional science fiction storytelling. Using the basis of a romantic comedy and adding the science fiction element has created an interesting combination that we are excited for people to see.
With strong characters and a storytelling complexity unlike many others, this is a ride that will intrigue and excite people and we genuinely feel this is a film with a broad audience appeal.
James Kennedy, Writer/Director
James Kennedy has been making films for over 17 years, beginning with just his family camcorder and a group of friends. He has since gone on to shoot music videos for some of the worlds biggest musicians and TV commercials for some of the largest brands. However, his goal was always to use those commercial projects as a training ground for this moment when he could put his directorial experience into action with a great script.
Having funded, written, directed and produced a feature film at the age of 21 (Dead City) he is looking to create a short film that will introduce him to the cinematic masses and further his career in film.
Here is James' Directors Showreel so you can see some of his beautiful visuals
James Oldham, Cinematographer
James Oldham has worked with the writer/director on various TV commercial projects and was the cinematographer on the award winning film "The Flying Lesson".
With a great eye for iconic cinematography, James will produce stunning visuals that will elevate CTRL Z to the visual heights that it deserves.
ED EASTON, Lead Actor "Ed"
Ed Easton is a brilliant actor and gifted comedian that is part of the award winning comedic sketch group "Geins Family Giftshop". We are confident Ed will bring great warmth and personality to the main character.

HOW IT WORKS
90% of the funds for the film have already been raised however we're just looking for the final amount to enable us to cover certain things, such as:
- location fees
Once our funding goal has been reached, any additional contributions will increase the production value of the film, offset post production costs and cover festival submission fees.
A share is just as valuable of a currency as money. Please use the Kickstarter share tools to raise awareness of our fundraising campaign. Sharing the link on your various social media platforms helps connect people who may be passionate about our project with our campaign.
Every little bit counts! Your contribution is appreciated and our team is so thankful for your support in making this film. Also thank you to http://kickingitforward.org for promoting the film too.
Risks and challenges
The risks and challenges differ for any project. Our main challenges with this will be financial which is why I have come to kickstarter to finish the funding. As we have already raised enough to start shooting we are in a strong position to see this through and we're just looking for that little bit extra to elevate it further!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
