Double Dare -- Album by vocalist Illana Zauderer Parker
I'm so excited about this CD! The album will be primarily voice and piano, and I'll be backed by the incomparable Mike Greensill. I can hardly wait for you to hear the songs! Jazz, American Songbook, Country, Pop, even a Hebrew lullaby.
This album will be the follow-up to my first CD, Hot in Here,
which won the 2008 KGO Radio contest as "the Best Music You've Never Heard." I know that may sound like a backhanded compliment, but it was amazing and exciting -- hundreds of people I didn't know voted for my album after hearing part of it. Double Dare will be about double the number of tracks, and pretty much twice as awesome in every way.

WHAT ARE THE DETAILS ABOUT THE PROJECT?
Creating an album is a lot of work, and expensive! Between studio costs, sound engineering, album production, shipping, and royalties, we'll need $12,000 just to break even.
If we surpass our goal? Then we could do some more fun things, like maybe bringing in a percussionist for a song or two, or even another singer! We'd also have more flexibility with time, and might be able to add more tracks and images, or behind-the-scenes videos.
Also, after costs, a portion of the 2016 profits from the album will go to an inspiring local Canal organization, Enriching Lives through Music (ELM.) "ELM inspires youth from under-served neighborhoods to thrive emotionally, socially and academically through music education, performance, and engagement in a vibrant center of musical excellence." www.elmprogram.org/
WHAT DO I GET FOR BACKING THE PROJECT?
Ah yes, the Perks! I'll be sending out updates throughout the campaign and along the way to the finished album, and there might be sound files and short videos from time to time. Become a backer at any level (even for $1 - it makes a difference!) and there are a number of cool and unique items and experiences that can be yours (autographed albums, custom cover songs, behind-the-scenes photos.) Check out all the details at right.
Thank you for reading, and please help spread the word! With Kickstarter, it's all or nothing -- either we meet our fundraising goal or we get $0. Let's do this!!

In addition to her theatrical work Off-Broadway, in film, and locally with TheatreWorks, the Mountain Play, and San Francisco's 42nd Street Moon, Illana maintains a solo concert career as well as private recording engagements.
Illana's first CD, Hot in Here, which features music by Dave Frishberg, Joni Mitchell, and Stephen Sondheim, won the Ronn Owens KGO Radio contest "the Best Music You've Never Heard." The album can be found on iTunes, Amazon, and cdbaby.com

THANK YOU all so much! Can't wait to work on this together!!
Risks and challenges
Most of the challenges we could encounter on this project are in production, but I'm very confident in the process, especially with Mike beside me. Also, because the album will be mainly solo voice with piano, it won't require as much studio time as albums with multiple instrumentalists. Certainly, unexpected happenings could slow the recording process, but we're confident this CD will be made if it's funded, and I look forward to sharing the stories and music with you!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
