About this project
We are about to embark on the making of a self-titled album. While still very much a Trees on Fire project, we have taken this chance to slightly reinvent ourselves with a beach-pop/Americana-soul sound with a 60s/80s/2010s funk twist. Excited about the songs we have been creating over the last few months, we are itching to return to the studio to make sure each note sounds as good to your ears as it does in our heads.
We love being independent artists and want to remain the same. As you know, we follow the D.I.Y approach and have primarily funded ourselves over the past seven years, creating approximately 60 original songs widely varying in style while performing many of them in over 150 venues around the East Coast. These things cost money, especially if we don’t want to starve in the process.
With our new album comes a new approach in releasing it worldwide, and we would like to bring you as close as possible to our musical journey. To involve you in each phase of our new release, we have teamed with Kickstarter for its amazing ‘fan-funded’ model in an attempt to cut out as many middlemen as possible.
We are incredibly grateful for our fans’ generosity and support of our music, and now need your support more than ever before, as only with your help can we share our new sounds and maintain our creative freedom. To decide how you will get involved and make some pledges, check out the right side of the screen to see the slew of rare personable and exclusive goodies you will receive return for your kindness and participation.
With your support, we will not only be able to record, mix, and master our tunes, but market and launch the release by September 2011. Your pledges also will help to get us back out onto the road so that we can play it to you around the world. No money, of course, exchanges hands until you help us reach our target.
Of the money you pledge, we’ll also be donating five percent (5%) to our good friends at Appalachian Voices, an organization that dedicates resources to preserving the earth’s invaluable natural landscapes. Without organizations like App Voices, we risk losing the Earth's most ancient mountain ranges and eco-resources to feed the demand for cheap energy and record profits for the coal industry. Find out more at www.appvoices.org.
We are very excited to connect with each of you, and sincerely thank you for being a part of something that inspires creative ways for you to get involve and genuinely help us as artists while giving you something a bit special and different. We look forward to saying "hi" at the dinner party, concert, and Raised Bed building sessions that result from this Kickstarter Campaign. Thank you!
