Welcome to a Kickstarter from Crossover Miniatures
Crossover Miniatures hopes to continue bringing unique and interesting 28mm metal Super Hero and Minion figures to the world. We're working with some great sculptors and we've been slaving away for many months to put together some great models.
Please look through our project and if you like what we are going to do, consider being a part of something awesome!
Robots, Heroes, Villains, Thugs, and Paramilitary Goons
This project's theme is Robots. You can't read too many comic books before someone shows up with a robot army to combat the heroes. We've also tried to create some more adventurous minis as our line is maturing.
We plan to produce 7 Heroes/Villains and 20 different Minions, each with 2-3 different head options. Our most ambitious effort yet!
The Minions will be shipped with all three head options ONLY during this Kickstarter. Once it's over, they will only be available with a single head option. Each Minions set will come with TWELVE (12) heads or eight (8) for the robots, enough to use one of two or three options on all four or five Minions in the set.
This is our most daring project yet with more than 28 different miniatures on offer. We hope you find something that you like here!
Each of our miniatures is produced with two or three different head options. Each body is created without a head and can accept most of the other heads produced, giving you literally thousands of options when you look at our entire range.
The miniatures are created in the 28mm Heroic scale or about 30mm's tall. Here's a couple of our guys next to a AA battery. Though with the nature of super heroes, some will be slightly larger.
Click on any of the pictures below to see them in a larger size.
A great evil scientist who's capable of death rays or robot legions.
A classic comic book trope re-imagined with a modern look.
Calgon the Taker
A sentient machine bent on dominating the pathetic humans on Earth!
The Dark Protector
This is your average super powered vigilante seeking justice outside the law.
This guy can get things off the top shelf or clean the gutters with ease. Using his amazing stretchy abilities to fight crime is also a great use of his talents.
This is one tough character who doesn't run from a fight.
This girl can mix it up with the best of them. She's smart and packs a wallop! The middle picture is the final sculpt, the one on the right was a picture taken before the final touches were added.
Mixing a little magic into any super team is always a good thing. This sorceress will add some class to your collection.
And Now for Something Completely Different...
All Minions will come in sets of 4 or 5, the Goons and thugs will come in sets of four (4) with three (3) heads apiece and the robots will come in sets of five (5) with two (2) heads apiece.
Paramilitary Goons with Heavy Weapons
These lads match up with our previous Paramilitary Goons but pack much more of a punch. We've got a mini-gun, an anti-air missile, a flamethrower, and a net-gun.
Thugs on a Bank Job
These guys are on a mission and are in various poses to get things done. We've got a boss keeping time, a gent with a duffel bag, a man holding a bomb, and finally a thug blazing away with two .45's. These guys will mix well with our last set of thugs.
These robots are here to support all the super villains that create robot armies; all the robot invasion forces from other worlds; and create general mayhem where the heroes need to wade into a swarm of minions. The fifth robot in the set will be a duplicate random pose from this set.
These are the Head Robots in Charge and the support units. They help to flesh out the robot forces and lend some class to the force. The fifth robot in the set will be a duplicate random pose from this set.
When you have hoards of robots, it's important to have as many poses as possible. We added these poses to give variety to your force. The fifth robot in the set will be a duplicate random pose from this set.
We've chosen to use Kickstarter to help raise the funds to get these molds into production. Crossover Miniatures has raised the money to get the beginning sculpting work done, but that is only a small part of the money needed to bring this group of miniatures into production.
Super Hero miniatures are a very small niche market and sales are not made in great volume. Kickstarter is the perfect vehicle to insure the continuation of this line. It allows us to collect a passionate few people together and make sure that everyone can help to bring some cool models into the world.
The money raised will help to pay for master molds, master casting, production molds, and the initial cost of the metal for all of the backer rewards. Also advertising, shipping, packing materials and lots of other odds and ends.
There are some modest stretch goals planned, but this won't be a Kickstarter where we throw in everything but the kitchen sink and make grand promises. What you see is what you get. We've planned meticulously and run the numbers many times. You'll get a good deal and you'll get it in a timely manner. Mostly, you'll get a great experience that puts a smile on your face and help to create cool stuff.
Become Part of Our Community
If you like what you have seen so far, please think about backing our project and becoming part of our community. These miniatures can only be created if our campaign is successful. Help make that happen!
A Note on Robot Numbers
As the Robots are sold in different numbers than all of the other minions, the numbers given for total number of figures in rewards will be for sets of four (4) minions, even though it will be a greater number if you choose robots. This is done to keep the wording simple (let's hope it works).
Each set of Minions will have a 'Stretch Goal Figure' He will be added to ANY backer's reward that includes 2 sets of IDENTICAL minions. Our example uses Robots, but the same system will be used for each set of minions whether it be robots, PM Goons, or Thugs.
If you have
- 2 sets of XO7-Bots Firing, then you will receive 1 XO7-Bot Guard
- 3 sets of XO7-Bots Firing and one set of XO7-Bots Advancing, then you will receive 1 XO7-Bot Guard
- 2 sets of XO7-Bots Firing and 2 sets of XO7-Bots Advancing, then you will receive 2 XO7-Bot Guard
- 4 sets of XO7-Bots Firing, then you will receive 2 XO7-Bot Guards
The Heroes/Villains models will simply be added to the reward of any backer from Sentinel and higher.
That’s it, until the last reward is shipped.
Risks and challenges
Every project has some element of risk. We have done everything in our power to minimize this risk, and we've used what we learned last time to reduce that even further. During our first two projects we experienced an average delay of four days and this time we've done everything possible to eliminate that possibility, we've even added some time to the fulfillment to pad our chances!
So what you've got now is an experienced team that has produced miniatures through a Kickstarter project twice before, ready to do it again. We have a lot of happy backers and we can't wait to make more people happy this time.
The sculpting is done, we've lined up the best molding and casting firm in the business, and we have lots of experience in fulfillment. Back this project knowing you have an experienced and reliable team bringing you a fun reward!
The only unknown is the time things spend in customs, and we'll build a reasonable amount of time into the fulfillment date.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
