GOAL! NOW STRETCH!
Sincere thanks to each and every one of you for getting us to our $25K goal with time to spare. We'd like to use that time to attempt to hit a stretch goal. If we hit $30K before the campaign closes at midnight (central) on Friday 11/30, anyone that has pledged for VINYL will receive a limited edition (no more than 500 pressed) bonus 7" featuring the bonus track "The Good Ship Lollipop" on the A Side, and a previously unreleased Lost Dogs track from the era on the B Side. Those of you pledging for the deluxe download or CD will receive these tracks as part of their download and/or deluxe CD. *The B Side will be either a previously unreleased demo, rough mix, or live track from the era.*
Again, our thanks for getting us this far and making this reissue happen.
Not every “supergroup” collaboration works out as well as hoped, but one exception was The Lost Dogs, which brought together the lead vocalists of four beloved bands in the alternative CCM world. Terry Taylor of the groundbreaking Daniel Amos, Derry Daugherty of The Choir, Michael Roe of The 77s, and Gene Eugene of Adam Again, set aside the distinct alt/rock leanings of their primary creative context, to pursue a rootsy, Americana sound where they shared lead vocals and often came together with remarkable harmonies. The band’s 1992 debut, Scenic Routes, earned rave reviews and sold well enough that they reconvened a year later to see if lightning would strike twice in the same place, and Little Red Riding Hood, which turns 25 this year, is proof that it did. From the opening, “No Ship Coming In,” Taylor’s take on the saying “if it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all,” and “Imagine That,” a Taylor/Daugherty collaboration that invites us to imagine that grace is real, and love will make all things new. Add to that a great cover of The Beatles’ “I’m A Loser,” and Roe’s tribute to the Beach Boys, “Jesus Loves You, Brian Wilson,” and the group’s take on the hymn, “Precious Memories.” Plus, Eugene’s heartbreaking ballad “Jimmy,” the moving rock ballad from Taylor, “Eleanor, It’s Raining Now,” and telling confessional that if there’s no room for grace, there’s “No Room For Us,” and the set closing reminder to look for Jesus where you least expect him, and “Pray Where You Are,” wherever you find yourself. While the Dogs were notorious for their live between-song banter and put-downs, musically there was no denying the surprising chemistry and unique blend of their voices. You’ll want to relive these songs, that truly make this collaboration “super,” on this Anniversary…. The "Little Red Riding Hood" Kickstarter CD/VINYL/Download Reissue Facts:
Why are you doing this with Kickstarter? Why not just reissue the album "normally"? ~ None of what we're attempting here is inexpensive. All of the production and manufacturing involved with reissuing this album is costly and time consuming for all involved. Neither the label or the band own "Little Red Riding Hood", and licensing and master use fees alone are roughly $5000. Kickstarter isn't a store, but it gives every fan the chance to help make something special a reality. So we're using Kickstarter to let fans speak out through their pledges.
Do you know what the bonus tracks will be on the reissue? - Not yet. The Lost Dogs and Lo-Fidelity Records are currently going through band archives to figure out the best material to include. Right now we've found several hours of studio sessions, rough mixes, alternate takes, and live material from the era, but the band hasn't made any final decisions yet on what will be included and won't unless the campaign is successful.
Do you know what the T-Shirt will look like? - We're going to create a t-shirt using elements of the original cover art. So if you like the album art, you'll dig the shirt. It will probably look something like the shirt below, but not exactly. The band also reserves the right to change the design if they settle on something they like more once we get into production. The shirt will be BLACK, and available in ladies sizes Small - XL, and Mens sizes Small - 5XL.
Do you know what the 4 vinyl pressings will look like? - We have artist renderings that give an idea of what the vinyl might look like, but they aren't exact...and pressings that feature multiple colors will always be different from record to record. All vinyl will be pressed in heavyweight 180g.
Red, White & Black Splatter
Are you really offering 8 Track Tapes in the "Big Bad Wolf" campaign level? - Yes. Every campaign some joker will ask when we're going to offer "8 Tracks" - and we're calling their bluff and making it happen! Only 25 will be made, and these will be fully playable 8 Track Tapes, featuring the newly remastered audio and the album cover art and track list. Yeah - it's ridiculous, but why not?
How long will it be before I get my order? ~ Great question. Our desired ship date is June of 2019 of this year. If we meet the goal, and pledges go through in a timely manner so we are quickly paid, we can begin production. Please note, June 2019 is an ESTIMATE and not set in stone. Band (and label) health is a factor in delivery date. Patience is key - and if waiting isn't your thing, Kickstarter campaigns might not be for you. ;) Please make sure you are pledging with a valid/non-expired credit card as any delays in Kickstarter collecting pledges results in delays in us getting paid...and sets us back with manufacturing, shipping, etc. Whatever the wait time, we promise it will be worth it.
Let's make this happen...
Risks and challenges
The main "risks" simply relate to manufacturing timelines to meet the June 2019 ship date if the campaign is successfully funded. If we meet the goal, and pledges go through in a timely manner so that we are quickly paid, we can begin production and manufacturing. Please make sure you are pledging with a valid/non-expired credit card as any delays in Kickstarter collecting pledges results in delays in us getting paid...and sets us back with manufacturing, shipping, etc.
