"Perfecta takes on a devastating gravity with repeated listens. Each of the record's tales of imperfection seem to give its title a caustic edge. Where Dig and Homeboys reconstructed funk and R&B, the songs on Perfecta contain little in the way of forward momentum. Guitars pool out slowly, drenched in distortion; songs build slowly to crushing crescendos; the darkness that appeared around the edges of the songs on Dig fully floods Perfecta, and every unrelenting chord solidifies like cement around the ankles. Sadly, Perfecta also served as the band's epitaph; it's harrowing final testament to Adam Again's overlooked genius." - J Edward Keyes
One of the most requested reissues we've had in the last few years, we're please to offer the "Perfecta" reissue on remastered CD & Vinyl. (Vinyl for the first time ever if we meet the funding goals.)
My guess is you have questions. Hopefully we have answers....
Is the band involved? ~ Yes. Both Riki Michele and Greg Lawless have lent their support/advice for the project, and they will be approving the remaster before any CD's or Vinyl are manufactured. They have also graciously offered to sign CDs in the "Everything Plus" level of the campaign.
Are you selling downloads? ~ No. Our licensing agreement with Frontline only allows for CD and Vinyl. However, Frontline has graciously allowed that with each Vinyl purchase, buyers will receive a download email where users can download the remastered album in 320kbps mp3s, FLAC, or WAV files, and each download will contain downloadable PDF files of the album art/cover.
How many vinyl variations are you selling? ~ We're offering a total of 4 color variants in this campaign, each limited to 100 copies pressed. "Perfecta" is over an hour long, so the album will be split into 4 sides on 2 LPs. While they haven't been pressed yet, our graphic designer created concept photos of what the records will probably look like. They are as follows (going clockwise from the top)
RED/CLEAR & BLACK SPLATTER VINYL (aka R/C HALF SPLAT)
CLEAR RED w/ BLACK & WHITE SPLATTER (aka RED/WHITE/BLACK SPLAT)
BLACK & RED (HALF-N-HALF) Vinyl
What kind/size of T-Shirts are being used in the campaign? ~ For this campaign, our manufacturer will use pre-shrunk, 100% cotton, heavyweight Fruit Of The Loom shirts in mens sizes Small through 5XL. We will also produce the design on "Ladies Cut" t-shirts in sizes X-Small through 2XL.
You are only making 500 CDs. Will they be replicated or (burned) CDRs ~ No. They will all be replicated CDs....NOT CDR's.
Are there any bonus tracks? ~ No. As much as we love bonus material, there won't be any included in this project as per the wishes of the band.
Why are you doing this with Kickstarter? Why not just reissue the albums "normally"? ~ We get it. Not everyone likes the idea and practice of Kickstarter. But as a small indie label, we also don't like the idea of amassing large amounts of debt on releases we're not totally sure everyone will want. None of what we're attempting here is inexpensive. From licensing, graphic design, remastering/vinyl mastering, and manufacturing t-shirts, vinyl and CD...it all costs...a lot. So rather than sinking thousands into a project we're not 100% sure people will want, we're using Kickstarter to let fans speak out through their pledges. Meaning that the only way this happens is if we collectively make the goal.
If we meet the goal, how long will it be before I get my order? ~ Great question. The moment we reach goal (assuming we do), everything will go into production. We'll begin the process of remastering "Perfecta" and re-creating the art...(or as much of the art as possible.) Once the remaster is complete and approved, the audio will be sent to be mastered specifically for vinyl. Once the campaign is over, (and again, assuming it's successful), we'll send everything to manufacturing. If all you are pledging for is a CD or T-Shirt, it's possible that you will get them in time for Christmas. If you are ordering any package containing Vinyl, manufacturing will take anywhere from 4-6 months. So if we were to begin Vinyl manufacturing in late July, the earliest they would begin shipping is end of December 2017, and the latest February of 2018. Whatever the wait time, we promise it will be worth it.
Let's make this happen....
Risks and challenges
The main "risk" is manufacturing time for the vinyl...and we'll keep everyone updated on project progress as things happen.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
