10/23/15 UPDATE ~ And now a word from Doc Love....and once you're done watching, be sure to visit www.77s.com/concerts.html for all the upcoming 77s November tour dates.
10/14/15 UPDATE ~ So we did it. YOU did it. $10K, and we still have 23 days left in the campaign. Truly amazing. The first three 77s albums are wrapping production this week, and if manufacturing deadlines hold, Lo-Fidelity Records should be shipping CDs to those that pledged by early next month.
And now it's time for our stretch goal ~ Sticks And Stones on vinyl! This will be a two record set, 180g vinyl, in a gatefold jacket and we will only be pressing 300 copies. We will have three color options available:
Transparent Green & Transparent Yellow
And a deluxe Heavy Splatter vinyl with Transparent Kelly Green, Transparent Highlighter Yellow, Opaque Hot Pink on transparent Electric Blue, which combined should should create an effect not unlike stained glass. (Each record will also come with a download card.)
If you ever wanted Sticks And Stones on vinyl, now is your chance as we won't be pressing these again. To make this happen, we need to raise another $7000 in 23 days. We raised $10,000 in 8...can we do it again?
Let's make this happen ~ again!
As Michael explained in the video, there's a lot happening in the world of the 77s. Let's recap:
The band is releasing a new collection of songs spanning the last 20 years, aptly titled "20 Years Gone", which for the foreseeable future will be available exclusively on the band's November tour. Check www.77s.com/concerts.html for tour dates. Plus we've launched this Kickstarter to reissue remastered deluxe reissues of the first three 77s albums, packed with previously unavailable bonus tracks. And finally, a stretch goal to put "Sticks And Stones" on VINYL for the very first time.
Are you keeping up?
My guess is you have questions. We have answers....
Why are you doing this with Kickstarter? Why not just reissue the albums "normally"? ~ We get it. Not everyone likes the idea and practice of Kickstarter. But as a small indie label, we also don't like the idea of amassing large amounts of debt on releases we're not totally sure everyone will want. None of what we're attempting here is inexpensive. So we're using Kickstarter to let fans speak out through their pledges.
Is shipping included in the price of my pledge? ~ There is a nominal fee for shipping download cards worldwide, but the price of shipping CDs in the USA is included in the pledge price. International pledges will need to pay additional shipping costs as outlined in each CD pledge level.
Are there any new bonus tracks on these reissues that weren't available on the CDs that were released in 1995? ~ Yes. As of this post, there are a total of 20 previously unreleased live, studio, and demo bonus tracks that have been added to these releases. **Michael Roe reserves the right to add or subtract tracks in the final mastering sessions before the albums go to manufacturing.**
Will the CDs come in a cardboard box/case like the reissue in 1995?
No! We wanted to offer the CDs individually. This is not an exact reissue of the "1-2-3" box set. Each album has been faithfully recreated as it was initially issued on vinyl in the 80s, but fully remastered and packed with bonus material, with roughly 20 tracks that were not on the original CD pressing.
When will the "Sticks And Stones" Vinyl stretch goal be added?
When/if we reach the first $10,000, the "S&S" vinyl stretch goal will be added.
What happens if we don't meet the stretch goal? Will you still make the vinyl? Great question. If we raise within $1000 of the stretch goal, Lo-Fidelity Records will cover the difference, and the records will be manufactured. If only a handful of people want them, we will message those that pledged for the vinyl within 48 hours of the campaign closing and ask them to either cancel their pledges or choose one of the existing CD levels.
What's the story with the limited edition poster, and what does it look like?
Reportedly, the poster was drawn and printed in the late 80s by Aaron Smith's wife (at that time.) Each poster is approximately 20"x 28". These are not new prints, but rather all original stock. We have 100 available, and these come directly from the personal archives of Michael Roe.
If we meet the goal, how long will it be before I get my order? ~ Great question. The moment we reach goal (assuming we do), everything will go into manufacturing. If manufacturing schedules hold, CDs and download cards will begin shipping in NOVEMBER 2015. (A couple of the levels say November 2016, but this is incorrect.) If we meet our stretch goal to reissue "Sticks And Stones" on vinyl, the vinyl would go into manufacturing in late November, and manufacturing will take anywhere from 4-6 months. So if we were to begin Vinyl manufacturing in late November, the earliest records would begin shipping is March 2016, and the latest May of 2016. Whatever the wait time, we promise it will be worth it.
Let's make this happen....
Risks and challenges
The main "risk" here is meeting the stretch goal to manufacture the vinyl, as well as the manufacturing time for the vinyl. Vinyl is expensive to manufacture, and takes months. If we meet the stretch goal, we'll keep everyone updated on project progress as things happen.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
