What is a prototype?

A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:

Proof of Concept

Explorations that test ideas and functionality.

Functional Prototype

Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.

Appearance Prototype

Looks like the final product, but is not functional.

Design Prototype

Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.

Production Prototype

Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.

About

The Doggie Camel Pack (DCP) is a vest that is comfortably worn by a K9. It's designed with a pocket on each side that carries a 50 oz. water bladder. There are 2 hoses that connect to the bladders and run up to a tee, joining into one hose. They connect to a bulb pump, just under the collar, in a 3rd pocket along with a dispensing tube and an on/off valve. The Doggie Camel Pack has a 4th pocket designed to carry the collapsible, waterproof bowl, a days worth of dog food, and has room for a GPS tracking device and a leash on the middle of the K9. The added chest protector provides an extra element of safety designed for the rugged outdoors with a zipper pocket that can hold different levels of protection, such as Teflon sheets, plastic guards, Kevlar, etc. Whether boar hunting, duck hunting or just taking a walk threw some rough woods, the protection is there. This pack also doubles as a cooling device when ice cubes are added to the bladders, or a flotation device when air is added to the bladders. We are the ONLY ONE WITH THIS PATENT. The innovative design allows loving owners to provide their pets immediate access to clean water and food regardless of time or location. The Doggie Camel Pack doesn't only benefit the pet, but it also benefits the owner by eliminating the need to personally carry their pet's water and food. With it's patented pump design and dispensing system, it eliminates the need for bottle service. Dogs can carry up to 25% of there body weight on their backs. Fully loaded with the chest protector, the large Doggie Camel Pack only weighs 8 lbs. On an 86 lb. lab, that is only 9% of their body weight, and we're only getting lighter with different materials. The market for pet products is booming, and the Doggie Camel Pack is sure to appeal to millions worldwide. With a utility patent that covers a large array around the Doggie Camel Pack, there's no stopping us from producing a service specialist DCP pack for the handicapped, and a super hero DCP pack for military, search and rescue, or police. We are working to manufacture a gel pack to fit in between the bladders and in the chest protector, to cool or heat the K9's vitals when needed. Everyone deserves to take their K9 anywhere, anytime. With the Doggie Camel Pack, you can do that, and know what and where your pet is drinking and eating. This produce is MADE IN THE USA WITH ALL USA PRODUCTS.

Risks and challenges

The biggest challenge was finding all American made materials. This has been accomplished, down to the last buckle. We have two functioning prototypes, one medium and one large. We are currently looking for a manufacturer. Most recently, the Doggie Camel Pack has grabbed the interest of Rated Red TV, and will be debuted on their upcoming series, Bootstrappers. It was chosen as one of 6 finalists whose innovations are changing the outdoor world. We currently have a finalized utility patent, trademarked logo and base of materials list.
