Realizing the story has been a huge and long-lasting challange. I initially wrote a script for a videogame and then went through the initial concept art stages. I wanted to create something as inspiring as games and stories which had a huge impact on me growing up. Like many others, the hopefullness and melancholy of these games is something I will never forget. I did not want so much to imitate something as to capture the essence of what made these experiences so great.
For a long time I pondered the best way to realize my story. I had a script, concept art, some music and even had initially programmed parts of the game. I really wanted my idea to stand out and decided I would start handpainting the story as if I was doing concept art. This turned into a graphic novel which I felt finally captured the essence of what I wanted to achieve.
Like all creators I have had to balance and postpone goals throughout the years but I have always stuck with my idea for this story. Now I feel more strongly than ever about continuing the saga and completing the other volumes of the graphic novel. Volume 2 is already well underway so there will lots of things to share and supporting my story will mean you can be part of the journey too!

Risks and challenges
I think the biggest challange with completing an epic story is always the sheer length and amount of material one has to produce. The Lord of the Rings anyone? These types of stories don't get done in a day, or years...;) Spending so much time on my story has meant I have been able to cut out a lot of things that I thought were superficial. I have focused on the essence of the story I want to tell and I want everything to be crucial to the plot - not a single character exists just for laughs or for show. I believe knowing what is essential will help me to complete the story. Knowing that people are following it and supporting me would certainly help. That is why I chose Kickstarter, to get both the financial and moral support to see the story through to the end.
The technical challanges of designing and printing a book are many (as you soon discover!) but I feel that a lot of the groundwork is already done and I feel confident that I wil be able to deliver backers a quality published book if my campaign is successful and that I will be able to keep them informed about my series for a long time to come...Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
