About this project
Reggie Davis has always had a passion for food. She dedicated much of her time to making people happy through her cooking. Her ultimate dream has been to own her own café where she could offer people her savory dishes and delectable desserts. However, until now that dream was unattainable.
Reggie has worked at Schnucks, a supermarket in St. Louis, MO, for over two decades. She worked her way up from checker to Food Bar Manager. While at Schnucks, she also became a caterer. She worked with a group of women and was part of the catering company, 7 Ladies and a Spoon. Recently, she went out on her own and has gained many loyal catering customers who encouraged her to open a café, with their promise to be loyal patrons.
Now she is ready to pursue her dream. With the help and support of friends and family, she is working to open her café. Café on the park will offer her delicious sandwiches and salads, as well as her desserts. She will run her catering company, Small Bites, from the café.
This is where you comein. As one would imagine, opening a café is a task the requires a major financial investment. Reggie has been lucky to find a friend who was willing to lend some financial support in order to help her realize her dream. She found a great location in historic Maplewood, Mo. The only drawback is that the space was previously being used as an Interior Design Company. There is no kitchen which is a critical part of a café.
The money raised through this Kickstarter campaign will be used to build a kitchen in the space. There is already a great area within the space to build a kitchen, she just needs the funds in order to do that. The kitchen is the last hurdle that stands in the way of Reggie's dream becoming a reality.
Please. Help Reggie realize her dream. Customers deserve to have a place where they can go and enjoy her delicious food without catering a party. There is no question that Reggie is competent and will be successful. She just needs your help to get there! Every dollar counts, so please donate!
Risks and challenges
Making the decision to open any sort of food establishment is a risk in this day and age.
The success rate can be a bit intimidating. However, Reggie has the attitude that she will do whatever she can to make Café on the Park a success. She has friends who are already promoting the up-coming restaurant and she is taking necessary precautions when it comes to easing into the food service industry slowly.
In order to keep start-up costs as low as possible, Reggie is only offering lunch and dinner. After the first six months, she will re-assess where Café on the Park stands. Should the business seem to be a success she will expand her hours and add local wines and beers to the menu. Should her assessment prove that the company is still working to find its niche, she will keep working on a more restricted basis.
Reggie is very serious about not over-spending. She is making very economical decisions now so that the café will be in the best place possible financially when the café opens in late September 2013.
