WE NEED TO RAISE MONEY FOR FILM FESTIVALS! :)
Roger has a pretty boring life working at Shasta Medical Center. That is until a meteor hits the outskirts of town causing everyone to go a little bonkers. Discovering a weird surge of energy, Roger now finds himself being of particular interest to other life forms. Yet what he has been experiencing is something higher than himself.
WHERE ARE WE RIGHT NOW?
So far we have shot Episodes 1 - 3. Episode one is due out end of June and episodes 2 and 3 are heading into post in july.
WHY ARE WE DOING THIS KICKSTARTER?
The reason for this kickstarter is primarily festival costs. I've already begun the festival submission process and for me to submit to all of the festivals on the list it will cost roughly 1500 dollars. My goal is set to just under that because I figure I would like to submit to at least MOST of them. Making these lists of festivals alone took me HOURS. please donate. Even 5 dollars. Very grateful.
Following this, I opened up some cool perks that could put us OVER the goal and make my life and this project a lot easier on budget.
I've used my entire tax return as well as invested even more money onto this webseries because I believe so strongly in the content that I am delivering. I have an awesome arche to continue on to a full 12 episode season but could only fund the first 3 episodes (even had to cut some of the most epic scenes... but don't worry, I'm writing them into the future episodes). My talent was so unbelievable. People came out of their way working on deferred rates to bring this story to life and I feel that we've got quite the story. I get chills every time I watch this trailer.
WHAT IF YOU GO OVER YOUR GOAL?
with a goal of 1300 we can get the film out to all of the listed festivals. If we go over our goal we can begin recouping expenses and making our future episodes better. Here's what the extra money will do.
1000 over goal will get us our theme song copyright for all of season one
3000 over goal and we will be able to pay additional crew costs
4000 over goal and we can recoup insurance costs for first 3 episodes
6000 over goal and we will be able to do better visual effects in post
anything after that will go into episode 4!! rock on thank you!!
FESTIVAL LISTS WITH ALL OF THE LOCATIONS AND COSTS / DEADLINES MOST OF WHICH are competitions!!
PRODUCTION STILLS FROM EPISODE ONE
The most important thing is that we get this to festivals. So that initial 1300 is very important! Every dime over the goal will be used for the growth and progress of this project through Skiptown Productions, LLC. Thank you so much!

Risks and challenges
We lost our School Location due to script approval taking so long at a catholic high school. Due to the subject matter being UFO's it had a lengthy approval process. They never got back to me and we ended up having to change the script to take place in a hospital. I think it works better for the story the way it is now anyway. Now I dont have to deal with any actors under 18 which is a whole new set of paperwork and rules. It was probably a blessing. They say rejection is gods protection.
As for budget it kept fluctuating and we weren't really sure what we had to work with and how we were going to pull it off. I knew that if this was going to get done at all or ever i was going to have to bite the bullet while I had everyones attention. If I tried to come up with another plan or fundraiser I think things would've went stagnant and the energy of it would've dissipated as well as people have busy schedules. I couldn't have everyone waiting on this one. I had to take matters into my hands and be the leader and storyteller than I was brought to earth to be. I did my job I feel, but the finances were and still are a struggle.
Another challenge that comes with completing a project is rules, laws, unions, and egos. Laws rules and unions are there to protect us, but I had some SAG background that wanted to stick around and be there after their cut off time and I had to release them. They wanted to stay so badly and they couldn't so that to me is kinda rough when in the union. Also permits are rediculous. You have like 4 grand to shoot A,B, and C in this location and then they wanna slap a permit that's 3 grand for 12 hours ... That's my whole budget for this!? So permits are too expensive for ultra low independent filmmakers in los angeles. I think webseries should have their own rates for permits because most of the time the locations were happy to have us, but the permit office is what kept us from shooting there. As for egos, you want everyone to be involved, you want everyone to be happy, you want everyone to get along, but at the end of the day people have agendas wants and needs and they all have to be able to work cohesively or set can be grueling. Know who you're getting involved at all times. Trust is very important.
I booked my hospital location 2 days before shooting .. I almost had no first episode .. PShh ... that pretty much means I almost had no webseries .. this webseries existing right now is actually a miracle in itself. Being that it's based on dreams I had .. I know this is a story that I was asked to tell .. by who I don't know yet. Maybe another dream will tell me.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
