Way back in 2010 Joe Bomba and James McCabe came up with an idea for a Television show about a writer's colony that was original, funny, and visually stimulating. They wrote a script, but put the project on the back burner to make a web series, commercials, music videos, documentaries, etc. They didn't forget about that script, though. They kept polishing it, meticulously focusing on each character, line of dialogue, and effect. Finally it is ready for the world. It is The Colony.
The show will follow characters who are looking to crack into the writing world via a writer's colony. They find themselves smack in the middle of a pile of social misanthropes who are more engaged in promiscuous sex, drugs, and pursuing their own strange fancies than they are in actual writing. The show is unique, witty, fast-paced, and full of exciting effects. We're also doing a Making of The Colony documentary that will be available as a reward. The show will begin shooting in June 2012 in Scranton, PA, Wilkes-Barre, PA, and Brooklyn, NY.
Projects like this can be very expensive. This is the most ambitious project we've pursued to date, which means it will have the biggest cast and crew, and will necessitate a lot of equipment. We're grateful to have a cast and crew donating their time and talent, but there is still a lot to pay for. The more donations we get, the more gear we can buy and the better it will look, making the show more attractive to networks. We are going to work very hard to get this pilot to networks, meaning that you have the opportunity to help put a show on air. You get in at the ground floor. When we get the show on the air, you'll have been a key part of that success and we will never be able to thank you enough. There are some great rewards to capitalize on, so please help us make this a reality. Thanks!
