About this project
Hello from Milwaukee, Wisconsin! My name is Lucy Saunders and I love to cook with beer – and in this instance, I want to fatten up a second edition of GRILLING WITH BEER with new recipes from chefs and craft brewers, ranging from Abita to Yuengling (and more breweries in between).
What makes this cookbook different? This cookbook is a labor of love, as recipe contributors all own their own rights to the recipes, and all contributors are acknowledged in the book as well as the website. Eventually, the cookbook will be sold (suggested price will be $21.95) where craft beer is sold – a natural fit, because every recipe features craft beer or brewing ingredients.
When I teach classes, people always want to hear the stories about beer and food pairings. So, the cookbook will also feature 10 different chapters about culinary celebrations of craft beer and grilling, festivals that feature grill chefs and cook-offs, such as Madison’s REAP Beer and Burger Festival, the Schlafly Brew N Cue competition, and the Leinie Lodge cook-off.
Here’s the nitty-gritty - I need to raise $28,000 to pay for the printing for the 224-page color cookbook (using recycled paper and eco-inks), which is hand-assembled with a covered coil binding (lays flat on a table, has a spine you can read when the book is shelved, folds in half to use at the grill and keep in an apron pocket). Everyone who backs this project will be acknowledged on the grillingwithbeer.com website - and larger backers can get even more cookbooks to sell in their gift shops, plus assorted goodies such as tastings and cooking demonstrations.
