About this project
Avin Loki Baird is an accomplished singer songwriter, guitarist, artist and luthier from Cleveland, Ohio. She was a finalist in the 1994 Winfield finger style competition. She has worked one on one extensively with David Wilcox during his formative years. She has worked with Bonnie Raitt, Bela Fleck, Amy Ray, Trapaziod, Hazel Dickens, Alice Girard, Freyda Epstien, Pat Humpries, Holly Near and many more. Her influence amonst Cleveland area musicians is greater than most of them know.
This collection of music was recorded in 2011 as a tribute to violinist and vocalist Freyda Epstien who died tragically in 2003. The music is based in the traditional styles indigenous to West Virginia where Avin and Freyda worked together. At that time they had hoped to release a record but were never able to due to Freyda's passing. These songs were inspired by this friendship and musical partnership.
Currently waging a successful battle with breast cancer and a not so optimistic prognosis with psoriatic arthritis. The time has come to insure that this music is released and available for generations to come.
This new record is in the final stages of production. In order to release this collection, financial support is greatly needed. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. We look forward to sharing this music with you soon.
