ZIGGY ZIG-ZAGS GRAPHIC NOVEL GOES GLOBAL!
This campaign is to publish and make the fantasy graphic novel, "Ziggy Zig-Zags the Light and Dark Fantastic" go global.
"Ziggy Zig-zags the Light and Dark Fantastic" is a graphic novel with a story by author Ron Baxley, Jr. and art and layout by Vincent Myrand. Within the graphic novel, Ziggy, a Corgi, is one of many steeds of the elves in Wales, and the author's Corgi Ziggy was the inspiration for the character. (According to Welsh mythology, in fact, the white markings around many Pembroke Welsh Corgis' heads and around their necks indicated that small saddles and stirrups were once on their bodies and that the Corgis were used as horses by the elves). As a steed, Ziggy is chosen by the elves to rescue various characters in different fantasy worlds, including Oz, Wonderland, and other fantastic locations. During his quests, he is pursued by the Dark Elf, a fallen elf from the Welsh woods. Whether he can evade this foe and complete his quests will have to be read and seen when the graphic novel is complete and available in May 2016. The author and artist hope that the graphic novel will premiere at summer Oz festivals in 2016.
The funds are being raised to self-publish the graphic novel if a publisher cannot be found, to pay for advertising for the graphic novel, and to pay for event travel and promotion. We hope with touring with the graphic novel and advertising and promoting it well that we can make it a global phenomenon. We also hope that as this graphic novel alludes to many children's classics that it will encourage children, youth, and maybe even adults to read those classics. We want our graphic novel to give back to the community as well. Part of our proceeds will be used to help animal shelters because the author's Corgi was actually adopted from a shelter.
Risks and challenges
We are striving to meet all dead-lines, and the black and white panels of the graphic novel and the entire story for the graphic novel itself are already finished. We understand that there may be some delay with the coloring and printing process, but artist Vincent Myrand is a diligent, experienced illustrator and artist who submits new pages weekly. Myrand and I, author Ron Baxley, Jr., collaborate weekly on the story that I have already written, and we discuss how that story is being visualized in virtual meetings. Publishers sometimes have delays as well, but we are seeking to self-publish while we query traditional publishers. We fore-see being able to make this project available to our backers by May 2016.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
