As a backer, you would help bring the Bheard Sound Pod to market by opening up the mold and scaling its production.
What it does
The Bheard Sound Pod amplifies and significantly improves sound quality from your phone speakers. The sound pod enhances the highs, mids and lows of your audio to deliver richer, more balanced sound. Listen to your music longer and enjoy it more with this 100% acoustic speaker. Use it to amp up your music when hosting friends, when you're cooking or when you're taking a shower. Or, take a phone or video call with it as the sound pod works as an excellent speakerphone as well. See 10 Ways to use it here.
Here's a demo video to show it in action:
Recorded on an iPad. Audio quality is generally very difficult to capture so its real life sound is much better. For more demo videos, see this YouTube playlist.

Why it's awesome
The bass sounds just amazing when you play a song with a bass line in the sound pod. This is a big part of why the sound pod delivers rich sound.
The sound pod's been acoustically optimized through many versions, 37 versions in 6 weeks, through Bhold Labs, a rapid prototyping and beta testing program using 3D printing. This ensures that the final version is more usable and thoughtfully designed for you.
Bhold is the first to introduce the concept of rigorous "beta testing" for physical products to create better design, an entirely new way to use 3D printing.
Here is an illustration of the timeline of the design.
It's a new and unique shape that is impossible to make in a hard material by any process other than 3D printing and extremely difficult to make in more flexible materials such as the production material (a type of TPE). We've worked hard to make the Bheard in one complete piece to keep its design intact. We'll create a mold for it despite its difficult curves and undercuts, which normally most would shy away from, and produce it elegantly in one beautiful piece.
The Bheard Sound Pod is a never-before-seen patent-pending original design. Its striking shape has made it one of Bhold's most recognizable and iconic objects.
What the media says about Bhold
"The shear inventiveness of the company’s online catalogue speaks volumes for the genuine design talent behind Bhold’s business." -3D Printing Industry
What the experts say
Matthijs de Deugd, Head of Marketing at Ultimaker:
"The Bheard Sound Pod is a clever concept that strikes a wonderful balance between function and design. I love that Bhold uses 3D printing technology to beta test to create something better, something I haven't seen with other designers before. The sound pod is also just a very cool aesthetic shape that drew me in right away."
Mohammed Abdoolcarim, Product Design BS & MS, Serial Entrepreneur:
"As someone who loves music, I've always been looking for a travel size companion to amplify my music when I'm out and about, on the beach, in my hotel room or just lounging by the pool. The Bheard Sound Pod is the perfect fit. It's super lightweight yet packs a punch to my music needs. Best part is, it doesn't require plugging, charging or pairing. I love the Jambox, but charging it can be a pain and pairing with multiple phones is a pain too. The sound pod works right out of the box and is a lower cost alternative than bluetooth speakers. I highly recommend the Bheard to anyone looking for a portable and lightweight speaker!"

More on me
I'm an MIT & Stanford grad and former Googler who is passionate about problem solving and design. I worked at the intersection of technology and creative my entire life and I love exploring the interaction between art and science, of aesthetics and practicality, of relevance in our daily lives and timelessness.
At Google, I worked on growing consumer products including Chrome, Wallet and Google+ and empowering partner communities such as publishers and developers. Throughout my undergrad and grad years, I studied math.
I'm also from a manufacturing family. The concept for Bhold came from my frustration with how we manufacture today. I believe that we could learn to make things more efficiently. From there, I started to make and extensively test my first design, the Bsnug.
I coined the term "responsive product design" to refer to the type of iterative and relevant design that's now made possible by new technology such as 3D printing.
In the span of one year, I led Bhold to strong recognition from both the maker and design communities. With your help, I hope to continue to design for you!
My credentials include:

Risks and challenges
You'll be the first to receive the production version of the Bheard Sound Pod, an innovative design that uses the latest manufacturing technology to give you better sound on your phone.
The biggest risk is in not getting the word out enough to raise enough funds. We've worked hard to minimize the risks by doing outreach to friends, family and early supporters of Bhold ahead of time to help spread the word. If you like the project, please help us spread the word to your followers!
In order to deliver the product in a timely way, and to support local production in general and sustainability longer term, we're making all Bheard Sound Pods in the USA. This is great in that it allows us to be more responsive to you.
I've reviewed and signed off on the final prototype and the package design is ready. I've planned ahead in the schedule for fulfillment.
I operate in a very scrappy and resourceful way, so I will address any setbacks head on. I have a great deal of experience operating successfully under tight timelines. I believe in open communication and will keep in good touch with all backers on progress, challenges and setbacks.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
