What is The Confederation?
The Confederation is a future web series set during the 1960's in a world where the South won the American Civil War.
At the start of the series, the Confederacy is fighting in Cuba (their version of the Vietnam War). On the international stage, the Japanese Empire (an ally to the Confederacy) controls a large section of the Pacific, India is still under the control of the British, and Mexico is under a semi-Marxist government.
The series will chronicle life for a squad of Confederate female snipers fighting in Cuba and a group of former slaves.

Where is the point of divergence between our timeline and The Confederation timeline?
The battle of Puebla in Mexico, May 5th 1862. In our timeline, the Mexicans win the battle. In the Confederation timeline, the French win the battle, setting off a chain reaction that unintentionally alters the course of the American Civil War.
Why Puebla? Why not have it be (Fill in the blank)? That was an influential battle that altered the course of the war.
The reason Puebla was chosen wasn’t because of its importance in the war. Quite the opposite. It's because it had, on the face of it, no influential role in the outcome of the American Civil War. That way we could show how a small event can cause unforeseen consequences (aka the Butterfly Effect.)
What will you do once you are finished filming 'The Confederation?'
The series will be released through Blip.tv (home to Red vs Blue and the Nostalgia Critic). Episodes will be free to the public. (http://blip.tv/theconfederation)
How many episodes do you plan on creating?
The goal is to create at least eight episodes that will be released on a weekly basis. Our Kickstarter goal is set at $2,500, which will fund the creation of the pilot episode. Each episode will be 10-15 minutes long.
What will my donation be used for?
The money raised through Kickstarter will be used to cover costs involved with creating and distributing the series, including travel and lodging expenses, paying the cast and crew, location fees, advertisements and equipment. Some equipment we would like to purchase include a secondary video camera as well as a professional lighting kit, camera lenses and batteries, audio equipment, a monitor, memory cards and back up hard drives. A portion of the funds will also be used to pay for sponsor incentives. We hope to raise at least $75,000 in order to produce the first season of the series.
Here's a breakdown of our Kickstarter goals:
$3,000 – Pilot (1 Episode)
$10,000 – 2 Episodes
$20,000 – 4 Episodes
$40,000 – 8 Episodes
$60,000 – 12 Episodes
$75,000 – 14 Episodes

Risks and challenges
Bad weather, equipment failure, and other unforeseen problems might force us to delay filming an episode, which would be a problem since some of our cast members have to travel from out of state. In order to ensure this does not delay the overall production of the series, we will set aside a few back up days in the schedule.
