HiddenRadio2 Is Here!

Posted by John VDN + Vitor Santa Maria (Creator)

Hey Guys,

It’s been a little over 2 years since we announced the HiddenRadio. Since then we’ve been listening to our backers and the community, to what they wanted most out of a portable speaker. You asked for it and here we have it, welcome HiddenRadio2!

We originally planned a soft launch for Saturday night but that didn’t really happen. We blasted through our goal in only 4.5 hours. It’s been amazing to see a lot of backers from HiddenRadio1 come and support HiddenRadio2. If you haven’t checked it out yet then jump over to the link above. You can also like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter to get the latest news in real time.

Thanks again for supporting us!

THe First one is disappointing, I bought 2 because you guys promise to have bluetooth link for the first launch ended up it didn't happen and the speakers won't last long, now they are sitting at home doing nothing.

I wanted to back you guys up again, but HR1 had very poor sound quality so now I'll wait for people to review this version...

@Ricardo you should contact support, if your radio died that quickly they should replace it.

They did clearly post project updates saying which features they had eliminated (less battery life, no multi channel bluetooth, no charging outlet plug, etc.). To my knowledge all the changes occured during the campaign, so if you read the changes and didn't want to back, you could have removed your pledge. KS is not a place to make a pledge, ignore all updates, and expect the result to be exactly what was promised initially.

The first one had an amazing design, but one of the POOREST SOUND ever.
It was overpriced, and I wanted to support your idea, but when the product arrived I was so disappointed.

I won't buy another HR (1 or 2 or 3), and I would suggest other bidders to let your start the production and buy it EVENTUALLY demo-based.

It doesn't worth to waste money in a new kickstarter campaign.

I haven't used my HR1 for many months. Sound quality mostly (flat).
Learned my lesson not to buy anything I can't demo first.

Note: I bought the original 5 pack and I have recommended this radio to many people. About 30% of them don't work right. Battery problems, bluetooth connection issues, and audio quality problems. They have been generally great about replacing the radios that don't work right. It would be great if they had more quality control but this is the issue with a new product.

I think they were surprised by the response and all the early birds sold out fast. MAYBE they will do the original backers a super nice deal and give us the early bird price outside of kickstarter :)

Wow, so much negativity. I love the HR1, I use it almost every day. Sure the battery is rubbish, and the charging cord is hard to attach, and bluetooth is crap for serious audio - but so what - it's a great product and it looks good too. I didn't even realise it had a radio, as I only ever use it for streaming podcasts from my iPhone. If you want decent speakers you have to pay a decent price, and these aren't expensive.

Sadly I have to say I feel the same as the other original hidden radio who are voicing their disappointment. I backed up 2 original hidden radio with the expectation that they would work together as it was initially stated to eventually figure out that this feature was dropped. I understand the complexity of this kind of projects and was totally ok with it but I would have expected at least an opportunity to get a priority access to the early birds pledges for the new model that has the feature I was looking for with the first iteration of your product. It hasn't been the case and I don't really feel supporting you for this new campaign.

Would also like to echo the disappointment that previous backers were not given the opportunity to jump on as Early Bird supporters.

Though with only 199 available units I doubt this would have made much of a difference.

    10. Craig Girard

LOL, are you people insane? The first one as overpriced crap and you're giving them MORE MONEY?

Kinda agree with Anthony and Richard. Would have loved to early-back this project since I early-backed the original HiddenRadio and have been watching my mail for clues about the launch of this version. Slightly sad.

    12. Richard Chepeus on

I would have to agree with Anthony, I backed the original KS project for 2 units. I saw the preliminary notice that the HiddenRadio2 was going to be launched on the 7th and kind of watch my email for something to show up. When I did get notice that the KS had gone live, I went to the page and found all the early allocation gone. Seems like there should have been more consideration for us original backers the helped launch HiddenRadio.

I'm disappointed to see no loyalty to your original backers. You emailed out this update 2 days after the launch of your new campaign not giving your original backers that set everything in motion even a chance at getting one of the early bird tiers. I would like to see you offer some incentive for previous backers because honestly, I can't justify buying a new speaker for one that I have had for only a year after waiting for almost a year to receive it.

As for the new design, many of the functions that you mention for v2 were also promised at the start of your original campaign and never came to materialize. Also, as a fellow designer, minimal is good and all but not when it is so minimal it ceases to function. Taking out the radio in HiddenRadio is a mistake.

    14. Cameron Cooke on

Further to my previous comment I've barely used my HIDDEN Radio due to it's dire audio quality it's well and truly hidden in the cupboard. Shame it's only now with v2 that you are making the speaker part half decent.

    15. Cameron Cooke on

Disappointing that you've basically done all the things you promised for v1 and now want our money again. At least give previous backers a discount! Shows how much you really care about your early adopters.

      Hi John and Vitor,

I would like to say that i really loved my Hidden Radio but I got upset since it died after aroud 30 times of use. It seems something related to the battery which doesn't charge anymore.

I live in Brazil and the device got stucked in customs which doubled the price of it.

I loved backing you guys and loved the result, but i'm noit doing it again this time since I don't want to take this kind of risk anymore.

Thanks - but no thanks. So many issues with your old design that we have put them in the bin. And next time - maybe consider alerting your old customers first. I wish you the best and hope your current model works - not like the old ones.
