Well i can sort of get silence from the team at this stage but would be nice to hear something from beta mostly as i mentioned the developer side of them.
@kevin & @Three, things are eerily quiet. Best I can tell, no public comment from the team since May 15th. I suppose 12 days really isn't that long, especially if it means they get a really detailed update out this Thursday, but it does seem to be a new strategy.
I honestly can't say I blame them. Answering the same questions over and over, and having to constantly brush off folks claiming they have lawyers on speed dial, must get pretty tiresome.
It would be nice to hear a bit more from the team or the beta testers. Have the 3rd round of tester got their units yet. Have the developers managed to get any more apps running? The facebook group must be the quietest it's been. Even the small amount who posted regularly have gone quiet.
I think Blocks is a wonderful concept and watch, my crystal ball predicts they get bought out rather quickly, considering Tag Hauer "functional bands". I think the smartwatch market is still maturing and I am awaiting "not holding my breath", for better integration with the iphone over time. Also i am already waiting to swap out my core for one with HR (i have a small wrist, no way i am getting a good reading off to the side) and GPS and more options on it, and then extra modules for random functions. GPS is less necessary as when not exercising it is a waste of a module.
There is another kickstarter with HR pod on the arm, im looking into if it will be more accurate with less motion
Hi guys, sorry to see that my response to the "core unit" survey haven't been registered correctly by your surveyors, meaning I got asked to fill it in again. Don't know if I Amin a minority, or if there is a problem with the survey capture tools, so I thought I would let you know.
@Blocks, The dock has mini-USB (source: https://www.chooseblocks.com/buy). But will there be an USB-C type docking in the future or at least micro-USB?? Right now all products are slowly going towards USB-C and I hope to use one type of cable in the future and not walk with a mini-usb if all my other products use USB-C ;-)
@rhiney maceachern
Shipping in batches could mean a lot of things as its not a specific explanation at all (sorry!). We will be more precise about batch dates etc. once we have everything confirmed with the timeline. Please don't be too worried though, it doesn't take 6 months to ship in batches and there are many advantages to this strategy as opposed to producing one giant batch (imagine if there was a small problem with every device and we had to re-do 5000+ units!)
BLOCKS correct me if I'm wrong. But what I know about shipping in batches could me if the first shipment to backers ships in Sept(for example) the last backer may not see his watch shipped until dec
@RenewableFuture
Thank you for the ideas! Keep em coming :)
@Jon Moss
Have you found the link in your inbox? Please let us know if you're still having trouble!
@Three Dee
Yes our timeline remains Q3, we are looking to release a 'live' schedule in the near future so that we can keep everyone up to date as we approach shipment. As for how the roll-out will be conducted; members will recieve units first as promised during the campaign, the other units will be produced in batches - specifics are yet to be confirmed but we will be sure to let you know well in advance. TapDo decided to take an alternative path, this is something you'll have to discuss with them as I don't want to speak on their behalf. We are already working with What3Words and in discussion with all other partners mentioned. We are focused on the current product rather than spending resources on future modules at this time as this would just complicate things and prolong the current schedule further. If we were to post all the companies that we've had a 20 minute phone conversation with the list would be slightly longer than what's in the update ;) As for 'actual' partners, are any of these modules in production? No they aren't. Could they be? yes of course. Why did we include them in the update? to see which ones you guys would be interested in so that when the time comes we have a good idea of which modules to focus on making. If you want to discuss further it would probably be easier to jump on a call! Let me know if you are interested (team@chooseblocks.com) as I feel there are still things I could clarify further.
@Casault
Not sure if we can convert additional shipping costs into a free module.. but I see your point! The module won't take to years to get ready though :)

@Bahri
We understand your disappointment and admittedly we are frustrated too - we are getting very close now though!
@Sundeep Ankisetty
Thanks for reaching out. Lets discuss further via DM!
@Brian
That's true and we understand your frustration. We have hit some hurdles over the course of developing this product and this is down to the fact that no one has done it successfully before. Everyone involved in the process (partners, vendors etc.) essentially have to face a learning curve and because of this, sometimes things dont go to plan. We do our best to outline the causes of any schedule adjustments in our monthly updates and try to host regular hangouts to discuss the project in more detail for those that are interested. Please let me know if you would like to join in sometime in future or if there is anything specific I can help clarify for you.
I am one of the original backers before Kickstarter. I contributed in Sept. 2014. I am very disappointed in the progress that has been made towards developing and shipping this watch. It has been 33 months since I first contributed. Other Kickstart projects have started and delivered such as Bloomsky, Dot, EasyFeed, Clex Dash Cam, Mara Pen, and others all in the timespan it has taken for Blocks to get to this point.
I see a lot of backers chosen as Beta Testers to this programme. given my background in Technical Quality Assurance, I am really interested to be a part of the process. Is there any procedure to enroll?
@Patrick Petersen I think backers would certainly like to know if BLOCKS has any actual partners that they are developing additional modules with. I suspect that the answer will be they have none, "as they are concentrating resources on getting phase one completed".
@Three Dee: As for the TapDo they say they canceled their project to aim more directly at product Integration instead of stand-alone product!
I know nothing more than you, and I'm supporting your point, but as for now, all we can do is to hope, that potential partners is more then a 20 minute phone call or rubbing shoulders at some congress! :)
@casualt this is my fear. By sending just the core, Blocks will quite obviously appease many but they could then take there foot off the gas with module development as the pressure will to an extent to deliver be off.
Hence my question below regarding production.
Whilst I don't wish to pour water on a somewhat positive update I can not at the moment get excited about the news of "Platform Partners". No-one seems to have picked up on the fact that all are just potential partners. In fact the Tapdo Kickstarter project has been cancelled. Being this far down the line can Blocks not list some actual partners that they ARE developing further modules with. A potential partner could just mean a 20 minute telephone conversation.
I got another project that was sent in 2. 2 years ago. I got the first part but still waiting on the second 2 years later. My fear is this will happen. I bought the watch for the modules not the core. I vote to receive at same time and the money they save on all the shipping should go towards a free module!
Just bought the Samsung Gear S3 (278 $) yesterday, as I got tired of waiting for my Blocks. However, I have voted for receiving the core without modules, in order to compare them, and decide which one will be sold on ebay. Actually I hope, that Blocks will win the "competition" , as it is different. In the meantime, I will enjoy my S3 ☺
@All
If you seem to not have gotten the email after filling out the email to which the survey will be sent, try to check your spam folder!
It should arrive in a couple of minutes! :)
@creator you have stated in update 35 that you are still on track to start roll out in Q3. Can you confirm a) that this is both the core and modules (not just the core and strap), b) how is the roll out going to be structured, as I doubt you or your partners would have the logistical or manufacturing capacity to ship all 6k+ units in one batch.
Jon, I was confused at first too. The link takes you to the website, but you should first be asked for an email address. Check your email. The actual link to the survey shows up there.
Maybe having an hdmi modual to hand would be ;-) handy
No pun keeping it clean
Whilst traveling without access to any devices being at hand with your blocks device and hdmi modual along with sim modual and otg modual you could make it possible to use your SmartWatch in a let's say virtual desktop mode.
So if need be on the fly you can just plug in hdmi or even mircast or chrome, Throw blocks os screen to a desired device for something as simple as a power point you wanted to share from an email?
That's maybe a starting point but along with that you have a multitude of options in fourth coming innovative inspirations
Or wirelessly via lte 4g
But an otg modual is interesting also with possibilities to expand its range of inputs from wireless to a mixture of also wired
Being able to use raspberry pi or arduino IDE would be interesting or least the ability to access code and upload it remotely via an otg type output from Blocks to Adrunio or pi utilising Blocks as a controller/input peripheral
Interconnecting is important maybe such as giving Blocks the ability to become a peripheral type device to other smart devices.
For example using blocks to manipulate and or control devices via sim lte and 4g is I think very important and as to where the future is heading.
For example using bt is good but limited as is WiFi to a range now if devices were generally written with software apps to harness the cellular networks as transmitter and receiver via specific apps/ remote access then that would be neat but maybe that relates to the smart programmable iftt function but via a cellular connectivity giving total remote Functionality??
@Matthew Palmer
Thanks for the feedback!
Whilst we are fully focused on the challenge at hand (shipping ASAP), we were also super excited about the on-going partnership talks and wanted to gauge your interest in which we should focus on pursuing in future. We are looking to release a live schedule soon, once we have confirmed this with the relevant parties. Enjoy your weekend! Glad you enjoyed the update :)
@mboirsbeek
The survey will ask you to input your email and then redirect you to the blocks website. You will then recieve an email to your inbox with a link to the survey (for verification purposes). Follow this link and click on the blue button (deltag) to begin the survey. From there, it should be self-explanatory. Sorry for the confusion!
Examples of apps is in regard to that which you use regularly on a device 2ould you like to see on your device.
For example I chose Spotify for its remote function along with teamviewer even on a small screen like a SmartWatch total remote connectivity is my aim.
Lastly I chose andruav.apk and drone pilot flight controller app
As I think they want to poll info on what is most popular so they can consider developing compatibles for there moduals and software, os?
Basically theyl need to Dev moduals and softwares to play nicely
As it android os it shouldn't be to difficult I'm hoping.
As for apps ideas of you can harness inspiration from Leap Motion but the one I should have mentioned which I was thinking of as Leap is secondary
PRIMARY:
MYO Armband is the most important and likely to be worth partnering with if possible they have libraries of apps the all kinds of like minded peeps create upon to the skilled developer.
MYO is niche but I love it only problem is its limited to 5 or 6 gestures now if you can R & D the heck out of it and get input from MYO, Steam, maybe even Occlus.
Also the is a project creating Sonar Gesture control on Ks
It looks like the link for the survey is not correct. It asks for my email and after that I get the preorder page. I personally like to wait for the whole watch including the blocks. I already have a regular smartwatch so I rather wait for the complete watch.
I liked this update, it seems to have got the excitement level back up highlighted the potential of BLOCKS. I just hope that all goes to plan and this isn't another update that will build up hope only to have it taken away just as quickly with news of delays etc as that will undoubtedly lead to bad feeling.
In previous posts on here and the Facebook group I have been both complimentary and not so about this project which has always been justified.
On the back of this update, I can see a lot of work is being/has been done and the potential of partners etc is great. On the flip side however, I can see why some people may get annoyed and see this as an attempt by BLOCKS to deflect criticism by dangling a carrot of what could be possible ( I do not think this is the case.) The problem is that due to delays etc people are understably itching to get the product so showing the potential of the device is a double edged sword, on one one hand showing what it can do is great, on the other some people may feel that it's pointless as they haven't even got the basic product on their wrist so it's pointless showing what it could do.
The idea of the core only is a good one and will be interesting to see how that pans out. I think shipping/import costs are going to play a big part here. I initially thought I would opt for the core to be sent first if this was an option, but the more I think about it, I think I'd prefer to have everything at once when ready. This is just personal preference.
Overall a good update and gives an indication of how things might be progressing behind the scenes. However, people just want this on their wrist and whilst I know its not possible at present but I think a simple update of a firm delivery schedule would go down well.
Basicallty, unless an update comes out saying that BLOCKS will be on our doorsteps by 9am tomorrow, anything else will be met with differing views. Unfortunately you can't keep all the people happy all the time.
Keep up the good work and let's hope for good news in all further updates :)
