About this project
"IOKA" is a portrait film about the historic 1915 theater in Exeter, NH. The Ioka closed its doors at the end of 2008 because of lack of patronage, and high costs of upgrading the theater. The film was shot during the theaters last days exhibiting motion pictures and the scratched surface of the film itself is testimony to cinemas fragile state. The film explores the theater through 9 decades of this "Indian Playground" & "Palace Beautiful". The name of the theater is said to have translated to "Indian Playground", "Palace Beautiful", or "Welcome".
This film helps preserve this building on the one medium it was built for....FILM!
With every donation, this film helps preserve it a little more.
