The project's presenters:
Maureen is the British agent of one of the most talented world music bands out there, Kolsimcha. They have recorded 10 CDs and played countless concerts all over the world. Olivier Truan is a founding member of Kolsimcha and the composer of all the music you can hear on this site and of all the music that will be recorded in this project. He will also play the piano.
Kolsimcha have been together since 1986 and have played thousands of concerts, including performances at the "Queen Elizabeth Hall" London, "Carnegie Hall" New York, "Concertgebouw" Amsterdam and the world famous "Goldener Saal" in Vienna. The band has a quintet repertoire and a symphonic repertoire.
The symphonic dimension:
The symphonic repertoire is composed and orchestrated by Olivier Truan and has been performed many times with various orchestras in many countries. Through its vital, open musical language and its sheer enthusiasm and virtuosity, Kolsimcha creates in its concerts an atmosphere unlike any other, and one that has also added a new emotional dimension to acclaimed theatre, dance and film productions.
Kolsimcha want to stay independent so that no producer and no label tells them what to do artistically. We are positive that crowd funding and independence are the future of the music business and of bands like Kolsimcha.
A new CD:
Kolsimcha needs a new symphonic CD if our career as a band is to continue evolving. We have been together for 27 years, through hardship and highlights, through ups and downs, members have left, and one member has passed away. We've grown older and more mature and our music has grown with us, and it has become better and deeper.
For this recording we need an orchestra that will play our music the way it is supposed to sound and make it even better, make it shine, and so there was only one choice: to hire the London Symphony Orchestra or LSO. They have the expertise, the sound, the power - and Abbey Road is the perfect studio to capture this energy.
You can be part of this:
We can guarantee you, our sponsor and backer, that you will be blown away by this CD. It will reflect all that we've been going through as a group, the countless concerts, our friendships, our willingness to stick together no matter what, our love for life, music, art, and last but not least the love and respect for our audience that has been with us for 27 years.
There will be 59 musicians in the LSO and 5 musicians in Kolsimcha and together we will reach new highs, inspire each other and record a memorable CD - which will only exist because you, the backers have made it possible. We will hire the LSO, and book Abbey Road Studio 1, for a total of 6 sessions in three days.
YOU can make this happen - you can make our fans, our audience and our friends happy by being one of our backers.

Risks and challenges
The budget is tight, but realistic.
Once this project is funded we will all work for free and have already paid a few thousand each from our own pocket to make this happen. The graphic designer and the video crew will work for free as well. If the project is over-funded, we'll first pay the people that are now working for free.
Every step of the process involved in a project of this magnitude has been done by us before: I have composed for orchestra, we have successfully recorded at Abbey Road, a have thousands of concerts under our belts, and we have all the necessary contacts to finish a beautiful product (graphic design, mastering, mixing, editing and pressing).
Once the project is funded it will happen 100%. It will be challenging, but it will be great fun to accomplish, and there will be a fantastic product at the end for everyone to enjoy.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
