Our MFA graduation is approaching, and that means it's time to prove our worth and display our writing skills by having a special public showcase. How special is it? So much so that we're willing to beg for pledges.
Scenes from our thesis screenplays or teleplays will come to life with videos and actors in a state-of-the-art venue on the Florida State University Campus during our graduation weekend, on August 2nd.
This event will be a capstone experience for us and we're striving to make it as unique as possible by including multimedia elements such as digital projection and surround sound to create a narrative immersion experience.
We're asking for funding to help rent out the theatrical space, create and license video and music, take care of our actors, build sets, rent costumes, buy props, and pay technicians to operate all of the special equipment that will make our showcase an enjoyable time for all. Each writer will be contributing in their own way as well, by directing, producing, designing, and of course, writing.
And here's the Reb shirt available to those who pledge at the $50 level!
Risks and challenges
Every creative undertaking takes on some risk, and we value your faith in our abilities to make this showcase stand out and be a success. Balancing this project with our class responsibilities will be difficult at times, but hopefully it will also be a rewarding experience. Some challenges in creating the showcase will involve scheduling rehearsals with actors, creating and managing digital content, building sets, spreading awareness, and finally, performing in front of the public.
If production setbacks do take place, we'll still put on a showcase. We want to continue the tradition that the FSU Film School has established with its screenwriting program, and by now it's expected of us to succeed. Graduation wouldn't be as great without sharing our work with the public, and no matter what happens, we'll perform our work and fulfill our reward promises to you or you'll receive a full refund.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
