About this project
The Audiocase is the ultimate portable sound system for your every listening need. Designed and built by music lovers who know what good sound is all about. We want to celebrate music by enabling everyone to listen to great sound everywhere. We love the boombox from the 80s and the idea of music being a social thing. Sadly the trend is to use headphones or small Bluetooth speakers with inadequate output.
Therefore we reinvented the boombox as a modern and heavy duty sound system with wireless connectivity and 24 hours of battery life. The Audiocase is the sound system of your living room made portable. Help us make Audiocase possible by backing our campaign and prepare yourself for better outdoor parties, improvised chillouts and good times. As we say: Bring It Out Loud.
Premium Sound To Go
The Audiocase offers superb sound quality even when playing really loud. The high sensitivity pro drivers combined with an ultra-efficient digital amplifier allow the Audiocase to play louder than any other battery powered speaker of its size. It will give you a satisfying volume even when listening outdoors.
Built Like a Tank
The Audiocase will last you longer than most other electronics. The case is made of high quality laminated poplar plywood providing an extremely sturdy design while keeping the weight down. The case is protected by aluminum angles and steel corners. The weight is just 6 kg, similar to a cellphone from the 80s, making it truly portable and safe for you to bring anywhere.
Why We Need Your Support
We have spent more than a year testing out speaker drivers, optimizing the amplifier, trying different cabinet constructions, testing surface materials, and everything in between. Now we are only a few tweaks from our goal – creating the ultimate portable loudspeaker. But we need your help to finalize the project. With your support we can produce the first real batch of Audiocases. Please help us make it happen and bring good sound quality to the streets.
Meet the Audiocases
Battery That Lasts Until Dawn
One design goal for the Audiocase was a long lasting battery, so you never have to worry about running out of power. The high capacity lithium-ion battery offers over 24 hours of playback at medium volume. At maximum volume the Audiocase will run approximately 12 hours on a single charge – enough to keep your party going all night.
Small Format – Big Sound
One thing is hard to show you: How this small box actually sounds. A typical reaction from people experiencing the Audiocase for the first time is pure disbelief. They start turning their heads to look for the hidden big speaker - where is it? If you place an Audiocase on the ground, you can easily obtain the fat bottom end level usually associated with a small PA system. There is enough power to get the party kicking, so watch out for angry neighbors :-)
“With the Audiocase poster I wanted to visualize how music can take total control over your body and how it can make you forget everything around you. Nothing is like listening to a great tune played out really loud and just letting yourself go” - OriginalKopi
”The artwork is an interpretation of the boombox put into a light, abstract and playful form to express the joyful vibe that comes with listening to your favorite music out loud” - Clara Selina Bach, ArtRebels Copenhagen
Meet the Team
Audiocase is a startup based in Copenhagen Denmark with a full time staff of two committed people. Søren is the inventor of the Audiocase and a nerdy craftsman who loves to build speakers. He has been making audio equipment for many years. Mikkel is an interaction designer who is using his experience as a DJ to refine and test the sound systems.
The Audiocase Story
The idea came to light during Roskilde Festival in 2013. We volunteered at the festival, establishing a Makerspace event for constructing DIY portable speakers. It was a huge success with more than 100 people building their own portable speakers. This massive interest inspired us to fight for high quality portable sound and the mission for Audiocase was born.
The maker movement also played a role in the development of the Audiocase. Søren is an active volunteer in a Copenhagen based Fab Lab and produced the first prototypes in close collaboration with other makers. We love open workshops where like-minded people get together to create things and share experiences.
Bring It Out Loud
If you share our passion for great sounding music, please back our project. We hope you would like to walk out of your door with an Audiocase in you hand heading for a music experience with good friends. After all – music is the best social media ever invented.
Risks and challenges
Producing a hardware product is not easy and unforeseen risks can occur. However, we are confident that we will deliver a high quality product to all our backers. Over the years, we have manufactured many sound systems and we have already produced the Audiocase in several iterations.
Our current manufacturing facilities are modest and that is why we have limited the rewards so we can deliver what we promise.
Should the demand for Audiocase exceed our current production capacity we will do our best to find a solution.
