We've added all kinds of rad stuff at: http://verygoods.co/
Wait. What’s happening?
Ebay announced yesterday that they would be "sunsetting" Svpply. On August 31, it will be no more. They've been very considerate and provided Svpply users an option to export their data. If you are logged in to Svpply, you can go to your settings page and hit the "Export your account" link at the bottom to get your stuff (if your export fails you might need help from this).
Why not just say goodbye?
Some things can't be backed up. If you supernova Svpply onto thousands of hard drives, you lose what made it wonderful: a strong community with really really great taste. We didn't want that to just disappear without at least offering an alternative.
Svpply has shown that it can't scale up to become a big company, but maybe it can scale back down to become a tiny, great one.
So, we're reaching out to you to let you know that if you want us to, we will rebuild the Svpply experience and revert to the days when it was a private, passionate community.
We'd like to call that new site Very Goods.
How will Very Goods be any different?
Strong question. Very Goods will be different in five ways:
1. Sustainable: Very Goods is designed for sustainability, not scale. We are making a personal commitment to you to keep the site up as long as people keep wanting to use it.This means no VC money and therefore no pressure to grow big or sell. It also means that after the first year, a small, annual paid membership is likely. **UPDATE The Deck Network, premier creative ad network, has invited Very Goods to join**
2. Better than Ever: Because we can focus on community and not scale, we can strip Very Goods back to what made the original Svpply great and fix some things (like no dead product links). The site and the community will feel fresh but, because we will be importing your Svpply data, they will also have the benefit of a lengthy history of user data.
3. Not for Sale: Very Goods is not for sale. We will not end up right back where we started. We actually almost called the new site "Not For Sale."
4. Ben won't be CEO. This is important.
5. Other than that it will be largely the same. Save for a fresh coat of paint, some new faces, and a fresh batch of energy.
How can I help?
Super easy. Choose a reward level and join us.

What will you do with the money?
We will use the money to build and launch Very Goods for the Web. We got to $50,000 by adding what it would cost for a small team to build the app + hosting costs for the first year. Then we cut it in half. It's going to be tight, but we're ready for it.
The Team
Our team is
Ben Pieratt: Former-CEO and designer of Svpply. Maker of many other Web things.
Fictive Kin: Product team in Brooklyn. We build apps for ourselves (TeuxDeux, Gimme Bar, Ham Button) and for folks like The Atlantic & Betaworks.

Risks and challenges
There are a few risks associated with this project:
- As with all software projects, there is the risk of delay, but we've built and designed many many web apps and are confident in our timeline.
- The occasional bug. Once everyone joins Very Goods, we'll probably uncover a bug or two. But it’s not like bed bugs, we can get rid of those suckers in no time.
- Svpply today is the product of many years of effort. It is unlikely that Very Goods will have every feature of the existing Svpply. You may find that one of your favorite features has been set aside in the name of simplicity.
