Our Trip to Computex!

Last week we were lucky enough to attend Computex Taipei, which is the largest computer exhibition in Asia. In attendance were some of the fortunate few to see the MiiPC in person, which is getting close to being a finished product thanks to your help and support.

Having several fully functional MiiPC units for people to see and experience was a big milestone for us.

We were able to show off 3 of our color options for MiiPC: “Glossy White”, “Pretty in Pink” and “Metallic Silver” and let people get up close and personal with the device. Our booth also showcased the huge potential of MiiPC, we can now play your favorite movies in brilliant high definition, 1080p, and even simultaneously stream different videos to different mobile devices utilizing our shiny new Media Server feature.

Here are a few pictures from our Computex booth:

We are really proud of the platform we have created around MiiPC and it was great to demonstrate live how the Remote Parental App Control works. In fact, one lucky fan sought out our booth and was the first backer to touch a MiiPC, but don’t be jealous as it will soon be in your hands!

Computex was exciting and fun. But, we are still working very hard on several areas - such as device driver porting, UI/UX optimization, refining our Web App Center, developing a MiiPC Media Server and peripheral compatibility testing - just to name a few.

We will be providing additional updates soon that describe our progress in greater detail. So please stay tuned!

From the entire MiiPC Team we thank you again for your wonderful support.

@Hans - thank you very much for your kind words.

We apologize for not replying to your comment right away. As you are probably now aware we unfortunately need to delay shipment until September. Check out Update #11 for details.

Thanks again for your continued support and patience.

according to your schedule, you're doing early bird backer production run in June... that means you're about to ship to us??? Can't wait!

@Ben - Thanks for your question. Yes, that is correct. Using our MiiPC Media Server (to be included with every MiiPC device) you can stream video content to another mobile device (e.g., a tablet) as long as they are on the same local network as they are all on the same network.

@Luis, @Kirstein - thanks for the kind words of encouragement!

Is this means that Mii PC also can act as a Media Server to stream the video to another mobile devices through local network?

Looking really good. Am excited by the media server.

@Chout - Thank you for your support and please accept our apologies for the delayed response!

Based on information provided to us by our chipset provider here is a list of audio/video formats that should work well on MiiPC:

      Audio decoding:
      LPCM, AAC/AAC+, WMA, OGG Vorbis, MP3, LC-AAC, HE-AAC

      Video support:
      H.264, VC-1, MPEG-4, WMV9, AVS6.2, VP6/8 SD & HD, RV9/10, RMVB up to 1080P

Video Container Formats: , AVCHD,WMV, MKV, AVI, MP4, MPG, FLV, F4V, MPEG,, MOV, QT, RMVB, DAT

As we are still finalizing many things this list is subject to change - but at this time we think the changes will be additions, not subtractions.

      Thanks again!

I still have not received an answer to my question on here from almost 2 weeks ago about media compatibility =(
OGG, FLAC, H264, MKV, FLV, MPEG4, etc....what will it support and will it be comparable to a WDTV Live etc?
