I, Lincoln Did Not Ask For This, is a picture book about two brothers, one who reeeeally wishes he were still an only child (and is also a dog!). You'll read about Lincoln's acceptance of his new brother, and what it means for everyone in the family to take on this new role- poopy diapers and all!
Larisa and Annie have teamed up together to make this book a reality, teaming up for the last several months to use sarcasm, wit, and some comic illustration to bring the characters to life.
In order to print these books and create some kick-butt goodies to celebrate siblings and the loss of "only child" titles, we need support and pre purchases of this book. In return you will be a part of the Lincoln community (who wouldn't want that), and enjoy all the amazing swag.
We want to make temp tattoos, t-shirts, an amazing book, and do some school visits to share Lincoln's story and show kids that siblings are great! We also want to focus of encouraging creativity and storytelling in classrooms, providing creative activities during the school visits.
Our kickstarter goal will allow us to do this on a local level (the California Bay Area), but since Annie is New York, our ultimate goal of $10,000 will let us expand to do some workshops/visits/book fairs on the east coast.
Thanks so much for your support on this project. We have loved creating this book, and can't wait to work through the last steps to share it with you!
Risks and challenges
This is the first book that Lincoln has written, and therefore the purpose of this Kickstarter campaign is to raise the funds needed for self-publishing the book, and for producing the awards that all of you wonderful people will be receiving for your donations!! As of September, 2017, we are finishing up the final draft and getting ready to send it to the printer! We hope to have the book printed, and ready to toast over by January 2018. That will give us just enough time to breathe before we begin tricking bookstore owners into selling the book. (Fingers crossed!!) Regardless of the sales, Lincoln is just really pleased to finally publish his first book, and to share his story with children, teens, adults, and all mammals who are no longer an only child.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
