Gnome Hacks is inspired by games like Tank Wars (circa 1993) or more recently Zwok. These games aren't particularly pretty or have amazing graphics, but they are fun and addictive to play. Our goal is to combine this style of game with new types of gameplay borrowed from other genres.
Imagine 4 to 6 friends battling it out over several styles of gameplay.. Team Deathmatch, Free for all, and Capture the Flag are planned initially. What if the pigs in Angry Birds were shooting back? What if they were controlled by another person?
We think this would keep the game exciting, and keep players coming back for more.
We will also be utilizing Game Center for both achievements and to match players of similar rank.
2 player local mode, two people can use one iPad for either local only (1v1) or against others matched in Game Center.
The iPad is our initial target, with an eventual plan to expand to OSX and possibly iPhone.
Well, yes... Gnomes.. Why not really? We have the ability to go from a cute Garden Gnome to World of Warcraft style to Evil little monsters. In the end we will be giving the artist a large amount of freedom when it comes to style. More than likely, there will be a combination of several different types of Gnomes.
Our art skills are lacking. Seriously, if you watched the video, I don't even need to explain this. The more money we can raise, the sexier this game will look. I've got the gameplay portion covered, but this should look polished.
We also have no musical talent. (Imagine that!) So while good art is a priority, we would also like to get some great music and sound effects.
I don't mind working for free on this project, but I don't expect others to.
What you are paying for..
Some of the cash is going toward hardware, software, licensing for the development of the game. The majority is going toward Art, Audio, and marketing.
With your help Gnome Hacks can be an amazing game.
We have several levels of rewards, everything from a mention in the game credits, to your own in-game gnome. (Inspired by you!)
With Kickstarter, funding is all or nothing. If we don't meet our funding goal, you don't pay anything.
A note for beta tester rewards. We use TestFlight so you will need to register (we'll send you a Team invite anyway).
What if we go over our funding goal?
Like I said, my main concern is with Art and Audio. The more cash we can raise, the better this game will be! I will also be able to add more features into the game (weapons, gameplay modes, levels, etc)
What else can you do?
Please share! The more people that learn about this project, the better our chances are at fully funding. Not only that, but the more people we have interested, the more people you will be able to play with / against. So even if you don't want to buy a reward, please share this project with your friends.
One last thing..
On a personal note, I just wanted to thank all of you for your support and interest. Kickstarter has the ability to change lives, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to share this project with you. Again, thank you for your support!
