Orientation for Guard Cadets
Okay, now listen up boys and girls.
This video is going you teach you guards-to-be on how to be a successful guard of Underbelly!
This is going to be a step by step, so make sure to listen closely and take notes if you want to get ahead of these crooks in this place.
Step 1 always remember to mark 4 inmates per 1 guard.
Your shift usually involves between 5 to 10 players, and it may seem unfair for you to manage 4 of these villains at once.
Still, this is the job you signed up for, and it is also the reason why you are to be considered the elites.
Step 2 know your own privilege as a guard!
In your shift, you will see that cards exclusively usable to different roles are indiscriminately drawn from a single deck, and that means sometimes you may find yourself in a pickle you don’t have any usable cards in your hand.
Thus, you will know that a resourceful guard of underbelly will actively make use of their privilege of replacing two of your cards with another from deck to place themselves ahead despite being outnumbered 4 to 1!
Also, because guards can hold 5 action cards in once, they can also deny the inmates from deploying their tricks by holding those dangerous gambit action cards away from them in their own hands!
Step 3 always stay vigilant when dealing with inmates and snitches!
Guards can use 1 security action card with a sweeping function which enables to uncover the action cards inmates have in their sleeves! However, guards are only capable of one inmate per turn, which means they have to make a wise decision on who to sweep.
Also, when finding a potential snitch to appoint as trusty be wary that all inmates will literally wag their tails to persuade the guards to make them one!
This means that a competent guard will be able to properly discern the correct choice among these four and make the rational decision possible.
When appointing inmates as trusty, a snitch would be using their privilege to help the guard to prevent the breakout and pretenders will use it for selfish gains, so there is your hint.
However, there is one last thing that a guard must remember is to never, ever underestimate the inmates.
Step 4 is to know your inmates and what they are capable of.
A single overlooked sign of suspicion and lack of proper deduction can compromise the entire facility.
Let take Dusty, the de facto leader of the inmates, as an example.
Appoint him into trusty thrice in a row, he will immediately lead himself and other inmates to immediate breakout!
This is the reason why that appointing trusty to the right inmate is important, even so when guards are still capable of multiple appointments to one inmate.
In this case, it is better for Dusty to pretend to be a snitch than just simply aiding in the tunnel-digging effort, so always be skeptical when there are two or more potential. snitches among the inmates.
As you see, being a guard of Underbelly is no simple task which requires you to invest all your wits and willpower to keep these crooks in at all costs.
Still, as our warden Lionel stressed multiple times, we are the last bulwark which prevent these criminals from harming our innocent citizens.
Remember, despite how hard it may be, our job is of utmost importance to our people to safely sleep at night, stand proud.
Welcome to Underbelly.
