About this project
Now that we've past the first goal, check out our first stretch goal!
STRETCH GOAL #1: $6500: Cover Upgrade! If we can hit this first stretch goal I am going to upgrade the covers to have spot UV and make them all extra special! It'll be great to have Maya and Kardunn's tail really pop on the cover + a THANK YOU PAGE for every backer at the $25 level and above.
The Creators is a story about a small portion of the world's young population who suddenly develop the power to bring their imaginations to life through their drawings. This power, fueled by adolescent emotion, is simultaneously awesome and extraordinarily dangerous as Creators are only limited by their imaginations.
The story of The Creators is told through the eyes of a young girl named Maya. After suffering a traumatic loss, Maya brings forth a very special creation named Kardunn, who serves as her protector and friend as they run from the Bureau of Creative Enforcement, a government agency developed to hunt down and deal with all young creators.
I am proud to say that the book is completely finished. If you'd like you can check it all out at www.creatorscomic.com where it has lived for the past 2 years. The $5000 I am trying to raise with this campaign will be used to fund the printing of the full color, print edition of Volume 1 of The Creators. It will include chapters 1 through 6 of the comic - over 200 pages - that I have been working on for the last few years. Anything over the $5000 will be put towards stretch goals that will extend and add content to the book.
Along with the book itself, I have come up with what I hope are some really exciting rewards and incentives for backing the campaign including...

STRETCH GOAL #2 - $7500: One of my favorite parts of any graphic novel is the sketchbook section that highlights the character development process of a book. If we can hit $7500, I intend to go through the pages and pages of creature/creation sketches and hand pick the very best ones and make a sketchbook section to extend the book. It will include early sketches of characters that ended up in the book and sketches of creations that never made an appearance at all.
STRETCH GOAL #3 - $8,500: An 8 page guest comic illustrated by Kelsey Wailles of Super Art Fight and Doctor Kawai and written by yours truly will be added to the book. There are so many stories in the Creators universe that I just can't tell within the confines of the narrative but wish I could get out there. This short comic will look at a creator who is in a very different environment than any we see throughout the book. On top of that, Kelsey's lighthearted and animated visual style mixed with my darker storytelling makes for a really interesting collaboration.
STRETCH GOAL #4 - $10,000: Another guest comic! A 6 page comic written and illustrated by Alex Kazanas of Super Art FIght and the One Piece podcast. This story finds a way to cleverly explore ancient mythology and a troubled father and son relationship while fitting in beautifully to the creators universe.
STRETCH GOAL #5 - $12,000: A Pinup section will be added to the book! The final stretch goal will collect all of the amazing pinups I have gotten from colleagues in the comic and illustration world and add them to the book. This includes work from Nick 'Ghost Free Hood' DiFabbio, Jamie Noguchi (ypcomic.com) and more!
Producing this book has been a labor of love and a dream that I have followed for the past 4 years and I am excited to continue on with it. For anyone who has read and supported the comic so far, I thank you. To anyone about to take the leap and support this campaign, I hope you love this book as much as I loved making it. Thank you so much!

Risks and challenges
One of the biggest challenges when creating a comic of any kind is hitting a deadline. I am fortunate to have the entire book completely written, illustrated and designed so there are virtually no risks in completing the content in a timely fashion.
That leaves printing. I have made sure to research the printer that I will be using and have even met the team. Kraken print has a great reputation for producing quality books in a timely fashion. That said, there may be some delays with shipping that are out of my control. I will keep every backer updated as we progress so they know exactly what to expect and when to expect it!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
