Hi, we're 20lb Sounds a rock band from Liverpool, UK. We've been together a couple of years now and built up a strong collection of original songs. Older ones you may have heard like "Jimmy Carter", and newer ones you won't know like the song featured above. It's called "Land Of The Living", it's new and we're very proud of it. But it's really only the tip of the iceberg, we have loads of other varied original material we'd like to share with everyone in a full length live album. That's where we need your help.
This demo video was recorded live using only 4 microphones in the room for everything. 2 on the drums, 1 guitar/bass mic and a vocal. We used a couple of 2 track recorders running simultaneously to achieve this sound. Imagine what we could do with an 8 track recorder? This would allow us to use more microphones and direct inputs to really improve the sound of the resulting album.
If you contribute we'll send you a copy of the finished album in the New Year. Either a digitally or physically. We'll also keep you up to date with progress as we go along.
Why Do The Album Live? - Good question. Well, we've tried other more sterile methods, building up each track at a time. Processing things, overdubbing and so on. But you know what? That's not real music. Not rock and roll anyway, rock should be live! We can already make a good sound live, we just want to capture that energy on a record. It was good enough for bands like The Beatles & Led Zeppelin, so it's more than good enough for us. Most classic 60's & 70's rock albums were effectively recorded live anyway. We want to follow that tradition.

Why £250? 250 quid isn't an insignificant amount, at least not to us. We also wanted to be realistic rather than ask for an inflated sum. If we raise more than our goal we'll use the extra funds to improve the recording quality of the album.
Thank you for watching the video and hopefully reading this page. If you are able to help us financially then we'd be really grateful, but if you just happen to like the music and share it with friends that all helps too! Please send this page to a friend if you like it.

Risks and challenges
Recording an album takes time. Especially in a live setting like this. You can end up playing the same song 20 times over to get the take you want. We expect the recording process to last a couple of months from the end of the funding date. There may also be some mixing time needed. Christmas is fast approaching but we won't let that disrupt things. We're determined that this live album will be completed early next year. Come hell or high water.
We plan to concentrate on rehearsing and recording 2 songs per week. In a couple of months we should have enough material to compile the album.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
