Galaxy Map, Alpha and other important changes
We've been absent here for a long time, creating tones of cool stuff for Starfall Tactics! And as it's almost a year since we presented our project here and you already can sign up for the Closed Alpha, we'd love to tell you about most important and curious updates.
First of all, since we have last been in touch, we added a big Galaxy map - the MMO part of our game and the first step to the Galaxy Conquest feature we announced before. So, if you come to play Starfall Tactics at release or even during alpha and beta tests, you will be able to enjoy not only the session-based part with quick and ranked matches, but also thousands of stars and planets waiting for you to explore and conquer it all! So let's talk in details about everything we've done so far.
That's the biggest feature we added into the game. To be honest, you could make a separate space MMO from this part of Starfall Tactics as we have great plans for it - including clan wars for territories, faction wars and a fair pve part with exploring, killing pirates, random events and so on. So, pretty much everything you can think of - it will be there!
During our first test players will be able to travel across a huge Galaxy, fight against pirates, attack other players for a chance to get some IGC (in-game currency, duh!) and blueprints, buy blueprints from the Black Market and participate in a very special event, which will allow you to contribute to the game's development, while you are playing. But pirates and rival players are not going to be the only barrier on your way to the title of the best Commander, there are a couple of curious mechanics which are going to make it all even more exciting: Fuel system, repairs and asteroid belts. Fuel system means that travelling across the Galaxy will require a certain amount of fuel, which costs some in-game currency. Flying through asteroid belts will be a hard task of evading all the asteroids on your way and if you brake ships during it or in battles on Galaxy map, you will need to find a repair station and, well, repair your ships. Be careful, as destroyed ships can't be repaired until you find a faction Mothership on the map, so plan your tactics and strategy carefully.
And, as we said, we are going to make even more interesting things before the release and even before early access: Faction wars, planet colonisation, random events, quest system, quest constructor (a tool to give simple quests of certain types to other players), beacons or distress signals (TBA), reputation system, clan wars and many other things we have in mind!
The game about spaceship will definitely require a lot of ships! So, after thinking through ship creation and modelling again, we designed a lot of interesting ships of three factions and even a couple of factionless ships for the MMO part of Starfall Tactics. We already have ship cards and modifications for them, continue creating new ships and are going to bring in carriers soon!
Helskor, the most popular ship:
Part of our models you can see in 3D on Sketchfab – don’t hesitate and go there to have a look at cruisers, battleships, dreadnought and even some constructions as Warp Gates, Repair station and Fuel depot.
As it was announced before, in Starfall Tactics you can find special modules, granting you different active and utility skills. We still have an intention to provide more interesting tactical choices and that’s where modules come into play.
Get into the battle, evade projectiles and position your ship the way you want with warp jump modules, create a stealthed scout (stealth module), suicide bombers (self-destruction module), or quick assault ships, with focus-fire module! Anti-missile systems will help you protect ships from missiles, advanced sensors will give increased vision to snipers and help detect stealthed ships, while EMP and Plasma Web are going to make the destruction of enemy ships easier and funnier!
And that’s not all you are going to see in Starfall Tactics: there are more modules incoming to make ship builds even more unpredictable and give you more fun while playing the game!
General visual changes and effects
Could you ever imagine Starfall Tactics can change THAT much, in such a short time span (just remember that we are an indie team)? Well, the changes are really great for the core part – some of which you can notice while looking at our old and new screenshots from WIP articles.
Interface and gameplay:
Our team also can’t forget about cool effects – we take our chance to improve what we’ve got and let you say “Wow!” while playing Starfall Tactics.
Future plans and Alpha testing
There were a lot of changes, a great many new things added, as it was decided to do something that will be even more exciting to play and even extended our team a little (check out our site to see how our family has grown) - we hope you will love the result and really enjoy playing Starfall Tactics during both alpha testing period and release.
But that’s not all, as we have more great news for you – Closed Alpha Test applications are now open! The Alpha test is planned to launch very soon, so sign up, and we will make sure to bring you in to be one of the pioneers!
