About this project
Welcome to the US-IMF (United States Independent Military Forces) which is one of the factions in our Governance of Technology range of sci-fi scenery and vehicles.
This Kickstarter is to help us rapidly expand our successful "Governance of Technology" range of 15mm and 28mm sci-fi vehicles by completing an entire faction worth of vehicles in one go.
We've chosen the US-IMF faction for this project as it represents a high-tech faction that is entirely militaristic within our 'verse and we felt that the "gamey" style of the models was not at all well represented on the tabletop at large scales.
We are an established manufacturer of resin models and have been operating for 12 years. We were a pioneer of using 3D prints for model masters and use resin casting techniques the same as those used in film production resulting in very high quality casts with excellent detail and exceptionally few if any, flaws.
Over the last year, we have significantly expanded our resin casting facilities and introduced new techniques for both moulding and casting that have aided in both quality and producible quantity.
We have come to Kickstarter seeking the funds to more rapidly expanded our model range by covering initial 3D printing costs whilst being able to cover operating costs in our day-to-day budget.
Please note: This Kickstarter and the vehicles in it are designed for our "Governance of Technology" series of 15mm & 28mm combat vehicles and are in no way associated with Infinity the Game.
I've seen those models somewhere else!?
Indeed you may have!
To complete an entire faction of vehicles requires a huge amount of creativity and design work and to achieve this we’ve teamed up with 3D designer Stephane Chasseloup alias "GrafxBox” who has a well-known and popular series of models created for 3D environments and computer gaming.
We’re taking those "low Poly" designs and converting GrafxBOX's computer-game designs into high-quality ‘true 3D’ models ready for 3D printing.
Once that work is completed we 3D print the vehicle parts, remove any surface artefacts from the printing process, and then go on to making production moulds for casting the models in resin.
Do you have anything other than renders to show us?
We've already converted some of the models and, indeed, completed the 3D design work and had them printed.
Below you see four images of the 3D print of the 28mm "Prowler" 4x4 vehicles alongside some 28mm - 32mm figures to give you an idea of its size.
We will also provide you with a series of silhouettes of the vehicles set against popular figure ranges as we go through the Kickstarter, but we think it is worth pointing out at this early point that some of these models are of a considerable size within each scale (15mm & 28mm).
As you can see above the Prowler is a very good example of the level of detail that we add to the low-poly model, all of which gets transferred onto the 3D print - and how all of that detail transfers on to final resin model that you will receive.
We have an excellent track-record of delivering highly detailed wargames vehicles of the very highest quality. Very importantly we have a superb record of successfully transferring 3D detail from "virtual models" onto the final physical models - when you see a render or screenshot of our 3D work you can be assured that all of that detail will end up on the final model.
15mm and 28mm scales.
We have decided to produce both the 15mm and 28mm ranges at the same time as much of the design work overlaps to a very large degree.
However, this does raise the total funding requirement as we need to cover the 3D printing for both scales, as well as initial moulding and resin materials.
We have learned from our previous Kickstarters that we need to leave an extended period of time for pre-production. In previous Kickstarters we have learned how to successfully complete the production within the stated time-frame, however, our pre-production period (getting the models ready for production) has been too short.
As such we are going to have a lengthier than normal development time and initial pledges will start to dispatch in May 2018.
Do you do Rules?
Making rules for complex tabletop games is very time-consuming and requires lots of play-testing which, with our staff numbers, is not achievable.
So, our vehicles are designed to work with rulesets from other companies and you will find many of the existing GOT vehicles on gaming tables all over the world, in both 15mm and 28mm.
So how do I pledge for the US-IMF?
Being used for many different rulesets does mean that it is impossible for us to predict the combinations of vehicles that you might want to buy, so having pledges consisting of X of this vehicles, and Y of that vehicle, wouldn't work.
We want you to be able to choose what you want in your pledge, to suit what scale and rules you are using them for.
So we've gone with a pledge system based on the overall value of the pledge, rather than individual content of each pledge, that lets you pick whatever you want
To do this you chose a pledge "Rank" which gives you X "Requisition Spending".
We then provide you additional "procurement spending" depending on your Rank.
As an Example:
You chose the "Gunnery Sergeant" Rank pledge of £200.00 and at the end of the Kickstarter that is how much you will be charged. However, when you actually come to select your vehicles after the kickstarter finishes you will have a "Requisition Spending" of £240,00.
Note: If you want both 28mm and 15mm vehicles then you must choose the NCO Rank pledges.
Note: If you want just 15mm vehicles then you should use the Officer rank pledges.

How to pledge:
New to Kickstarter?:
To pledge to a project as a guest, select a pledge amount and reward on either the right-hand side of a project page or after clicking the “Back this project” button and selecting “Continue”.
From here you’ll be taken to a page where you can continue as a guest, or login if you already have an account. If you would like to continue as a guest, just enter your email address and select “Continue as Guest”. Make sure to double check your email address – that’s where you’ll receive your pledge confirmation details, messages from the project creator, and a survey to provide details needed to deliver your reward if the project is successful.
Next, fill in your payment details and take a minute to review your pledge details. When you’re ready, just click the green “Pledge” button. Congratulations, you’ve just helped us get one step closer to bringing this project to life!
How to adjust your pledge?
To change your pledge amount, visit the project page and click the “Manage your pledge" button that appears next to your pledge amount and then select "Change your pledge" on the following page.
From here, you’ll be able to adjust your pledge amount or choose a new reward tier you'd like to pledge for and your pledge amount will update automatically. If you don't want to receive a reward, select "Make a pledge without a reward" and enter your new pledge amount. Alternatively, you may change your pledge amount within the reward tier modal.
Pledging for US-IMF:
You can work out your pledge in a couple of ways:
1) Pick a pledge amount and then look up what that gives you in "Requisition spending" - then select models up to that value
2) Pick the models that you want, then work out the best pledge level for your selection (taking into account the automatic promotion value).
To help you work out your pledge we have built a pledge calculator which you can find on our support page here:

Legio X Units:
Until the models are finalised, printed and cast we will not know exact weights or package sizes for accurate shipping costs to be drawn up.
With the wide range of pledges and two different scales to deal with, it is impossible to provide exact postage costs.
However, this Kickstarter is operating on a subsidised postage system where we pay a portion of shipping fees for you; especially to those countries where we have substantial customer bases.
There are some countries that we are unable to calculate a postage rate for until we do know the exact size and weight of the package. as their costs vary so much.
Those countries where we can estimate the postage are listed below, with an approximate Postage cost for a pledge of around 10 medium tanks in 28mm.
(Estimated Postage For pledges of around 10 med size 28mm vehicles - unless your pledge is exceptionally large we do not envisage postage costs going over those shown below.)
UK - £5.00
Germany, France, Denmark, Poland, Austria, Ireland, Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Italy, <= £10.00
USA/CAN <= £10.00
Auz/NZ <= £10.00
Mexico, Russia, <=£15.00
Swizterland, Norway, Greece, Sweden, Portugal, Finland <=£15.00 - £25.00
If your country is not on this list you may still pledge but your postage cannot be estimated until dispatch. ( If during the Kickstarter you know what your final pledge will include, we may be able to give you an estimate during the course of the Kickstarter.)
Postage costs will be invoiced separately when we are ready to dispatch your pledge, please do not add postage cost to your Kickstarter pledge.
Kickstarter Projected Timings, and current KS commitments:
Risks and challenges
This is our 7th Kickstarter, and whilst we consistently improve our production capabilities and delivery record there are some vagaries in terms of timing when it comes to anything produced in, for hand-cast resin, large numbers, with a small team (there are four of us full time).
Delays may come about because of illness or sudden unexpected demand through our retail outlets. We have recently shifted our metal casting to an out-source (Griffin) and now use a third-party 3D print studio to help reduce workload.
The estimated delivery date is May 2018, but keep in mind this is only an estimate. Also, due to the logistics of international shipping, backers in different regions of the world may receive their rewards sooner than others.
Note that we dispatch over a period of time starting with the earliest pledges and working through each pledge until everything has been fulfilled. As such the dispatch dates given in the pledge details represent the earliest date from which you may expect dispatch.
Depending on the popularity of the Kickstarter it can take 3 months or more to fully dispatch every pledge.
We have three ongoing projects currently: Fast Panda (being delivered, finishes in three weeks’ time), “Undertown” – in Fulfilment and due to finish end of August, and “The Roc” a resin dropship that is in pre-production and due to start dispatch in December and finish by April.
The Fulfilment of this USIMF Kickstarter is therefore due to commence after all other Kickstarters are completed.
Please refer to our individual project pages if you'd like to check the progress there in detail.
We can refund you within 14 days of the campaign’s end, fees included.
After that, we have a policy of no refunds unless Kickstarter payments failed but you were then successfully billed via Stripe or Paypal in Backerkit or elsewhere. In those circumstances, you will have 14 days from date of payment for a refund.
All refunds after the 14 days close of the campaign may be processed via Paypal or reversed via Stripe to your credit card at our discretion. Our default position is that refunds will not be available after the 14 day period has passed.
This project is being funded in GBP and any refunds processed will be in GBP for the amount received in GBP, excluding any applicable fees depending on the time of the refund being processed.
