Snow Day Report!

Hello Sunshine,

This morning Milo decided she wanted to go sledding with her her brand new Elizabeth cape... So off we went to our neighbor's hill beside my mom's house in Weaverville, NC that is the absolute best for flying. She would like to report that her cape helped pick up some excellent wind speed.

#Crazy weather! Earlier this week it was nearly 70 degrees, and what a gorgeous day to have a truck load with 16 boxes of finished Amazing Capes!

Once unloaded into the shipping/receiving center that is my mom's nice big kitchen, I got to use this snazzy new heat transfer press for the tags! Now I kind of want to make heat transfers for everything.

And check it out. The first wrapped bundles are below! I also have a golden-burrito style package design many of you will get... But careful not to take a bite out of the cape if you do.

A handful of capes have been shipped, and I have a whole crew of helpers... Mom! Jimmy! Tom! Katherine! Anna! Chris! So I can get the whole lot of these capes flying out asap. ...Photo magnets, drawings, power stones and post cards as well!

As it just turned to February (how'd that happen?!)... I truly thank all of you for your patience.

Wishing you an amazing weekend,

Roxanne

PS. A note on the power stones... Since I'm new to the process of cleansing and purifying stones, I think I went overboard with a 4X purification method... 4 nights in a bath of Ancient Himalayan salt water with Rose Quartz, and 4 nights bathing under Appalachian moonlight (including the full moon of course). Hope they are a little magical!

News from the land of...

Okay, I figured it was time to break it to you. Ladies and Gents, I put all the Kickstarter $$ on a down payment for this: I hope you understand that I really had no other choice.

However...

Once I discovered that the sQuba can only go 3mph underwater I quickly sold it to a millionaire, finished my last mai-tai in Mexico and hopped a Greyhound back to my apt in Asheville, NC. And ever since...with the exception of instagramming my cat, the occasional Mad Men episode and overly sunny winter days, I have been working diligently to get this first production of Reversible Satin Amazing Capes ready to ship out to all of you!! I have also been drawing spirit animals, bathing power stones, gathering photos, going sticker-crazy, designing this that and those, checking out spaces (Amazing Capes International Headquarters is still very close to my bedroom), making labels and getting ULINE deliveries full of recycled cardboard and stacks of shiny-ness.

I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for your amazing patience. I want SO MUCH to get the capes shipped out before the end of January and will be trying my hardest to do so. The first run of production should be finished THIS WEEK. There were just a few more capes than expected :)  Thank you all again for backing this project, bearing with me and showing all your support!

So much love!

Roxanne

PS. If anyone does have a change of address, please send me a message with the new one!

Family Threads

Hello allo! I wanted to take a moment to share my favorite Christmas present with all of you - perhaps you saw my facebook post, but if not, here's the skivvy... I received my dad's old cape for Christmas (!!!)

My grandmother located this woolen treasure amidst the stacks of time in her home in Jackson, Michigan and shipped it south- "so here it is, your dad's treasured cape, dirty and torn" she wrote. And how absolutely perfect it is! Throwing it on, there's the weight of 45 years of magic between the threads..

As it goes, my dad (a man of theatre both on and off the stage, who now lives in Hawaii) decided he wanted his own cape in high school, so he picked out the fabric and modeled it to the tune of a Paul Revere Civil War cape... His girlfriend of the time stitched it together, (made one for herself as well) and wah-lah! He wore it in well and I look forward to doing the same.. This classic style is both masculine, feminine and might just be a future design for Amazing Capes... what do you think?!

There is nothing like the holidays to discover a few family secrets... and it was so exciting to find that cape-making runs on both sides of mine :) As my dad always says, "nothing is coincidence".

May the old join the new in 2013 in all the best ways.

Hugs to you and yours for the New Year,

Roxanne

PS. A big thanks to the Hamilton family for throwing such warm and joyful holiday parties at 'The Big House' in Fairview, NC each year...it's such a treat to attend.

Ho! ho! ho!

Sending warm wishes to you and yours for a joyful and happy holiday season!

May the new year bring good tidings, warmth and adventure.

I'm excited for what is to come; thank you for helping 2013 look so bright for Amazing Capes.

Sending lots of love from Asheville, NC!

Roxanne

ps.The Satin Collection is merrily in the midst of production!
