I'm working to finish my debut cd, a jazz piano trio album with standards & original tunes, before my daughter is born in April.
Hi everyone, my name is Angie Spinelli and I am a freelance jazz pianist in the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Area. I am working on finishing my first CD project, titled "Journey," which is a collection of jazz standards and original material for piano trio with diverse styles including classic jazz & blues to Latin and contemporary modern jazz with influences ranging from McCoy Tyner and Keith Jarrett to Chick Corea and the Yellowjackets.
I recorded my first 3 tracks to create a demo several years ago when I was moving to the Bay Area. The impetus to turn the project into a full CD came when I became pregnant with my daughter (I am currently 7 months pregnant). I have experienced a burst of creativity during this time and wrote some original compositions for the CD, including one specifically written for my daughter, titled "First Born." My goal is to have the CD project wrapped up before she is born in April and life becomes much more full!
I have already completed recording, mixing and mastering, but have yet to obtain the mechanical licenses for the standards and do the actual CD production and duplication. This is where I am turning to Kickstarter.com for support, since the process of recording and preparing for the birth of my baby have depleted my funds.
I intend to have the CD available for sale at shows and events (I play all around the Bay Area) as well as on my website, www.pianochic.com, which you can visit to learn more about me and also listen to samples of some of the standards I recorded that will be on the CD. I am determined to complete this project at this time in my life, most importantly because I want my daughter to always know that I recorded and created this for her, while she was actually in my belly!
Many of you have asked me that question. The answer is, nothing. The pledges will not go through, no one will be charged anything, and the project will not be funded.
Thank you, but that will not help this project - the contribution needs to be pledged online through kickstarter.com in order to be tabulated and help me reach the goal of raising $2,000, otherwise the project will not be funded.
$1,360 - CD manufacturing ($1,090 for a thousand copies, made with eco-friendly recycled cardboard digipak packaging with recycled plastic bottle cd tray + $160 shipping + $110 sales tax)
$690 - Licensing fees for the jazz standards
Total = $2,050
$2,550 - Costs already paid with my own funds (includes studio recording fees, payments to contributing musicians, mixing and mastering fees).
