Hi, my name is Andy J. Miller and I'm an illustrator and graphic designer. I have worked for a variety of corporate clients like Sony, Wired, Urban Outfitters and Google, and I am the creator of the Indie Rock Coloring book. For the past couple of years, I have tried to start focusing on more personal work. That's where NOD comes in. NOD is my own dream-like universe where hundreds and hundreds of my characters live and interact.
My project is to bring my year-long daily drawing blog, Day-After-Day in NOD ( www.innod.tumblr.com ), to the real world. I plan to accomplish this by taking every single character and making them into 4"x6" 3 color screen-prints. Since April, I have been posting a new NOD resident every weekday - so that is a total of 260 characters!
My friend Matt Rust (from Goodnight Sweet Prints ) and I will be printing these characters. There are four color schemes, and all 4"x6" will fit on 11 18"x24" sheets of paper and then need to be cut down to size.
Here's how the funds will be used:
$200 for French Paper
$200 for suitable drying rack
$100 printing ink
$2500 tons print & prep time!
$200 industrial paper cutter
$200 proper storage
$200 for musicians' usage of songs in video
$100 shipping & packaging
$300 prepping our space to print through the cold Indiana winter!
I am currently 125 characters into the drawing phase! So only 135 more to go. However we are going to split up the printing time, doing around a quarter at a time. So as soon as we get funding we can start printing the first batch.
If we get over of funded there is no end to where this could go! I would love to tour all 260 prints through galleries throughout the country or even the world! Also, I would love to visit craft shows all around the USA. An even bigger dream for me would be to have the time to start writing books with more clear narratives for all these characters.
The Vision of NOD
Here are some examples of days from NOD:
Meet… BeadleWith a wealth of experience, Beadle uses lessons from many travels to relate to one and all. Always a friend with a positive yet reserved attitude, this guy is a staple in the NOD community.
Pom is one of the most prominent figures in NOD, always popping up here and there. Pom is a shy guy - silent, and occasionally down in the dumps. He needs a hug…if only he could ask for one!
Biddle is a sad little creature. Left to fend for himself without any wisdom or knowledge of how to survive, Biddle has had to learn all things the hard way. This has lead him to a life full of struggles, trials, and roadblocks.
Chitty is a big brother to all the NOD dwellers, always looking out for others and always cracking silly jokes.
Here are examples of how these prints we are creating could looked framed! I am so excited about having 260 of these guys. My dream for this is to have boxes of prints at crafts shows and for sale online on Etsy, that can be flipped through, allowing people to spend tons of time looking through them all finding their favorite ones that they just have to own! When I was a kid I loved anything with tons of characters with different features to contrast and compare, and I still do!

Here are some examples of my prints, t-shirts, and my plush on Etsy that are included in my prizes and also different ways NOD can start spreading. These have been some smaller efforts I have already completed, whereas my hopes for this Kickstarter is to do something big enough to do get the ball rolling in a bigger way!
