Losswords: Post Alpha, Pre Beta.
Hello from the Losswords team!: Peter Berry, (programming), Lucy Bonner (art production), Diego Garcia (art/animation), Carlos Hernandez (content), Alexander King (analytics), John Sharp (art direction), Eric Zimmerman (design), and me, Colleen Macklin (design, marketing).
It’s been awhile since we’ve been in touch, and that’s because we have been busy preparing for and running our alpha playtest! This first alpha is a basic version of the game without all the bells and whistles.
How did it go?
Well… we learned that we have plenty of work cut out for us! Overall, the feedback from our very small group of testers confirmed that the concept is really great, and that there’s plenty of fun stuff in there. It also pointed out that we need to improve some of the core gameplay, and balance out the game’s difficulty curve. It was an invaluable process, answering the open questions we had about gameplay.
What does this all mean?
Based on our plans, all this is going to add a few months to our schedule. That said, we’re confident that the game is going to be leaps and bounds better with the added time and care. We’ve got an incredible team, we’re all really energized from the input, and we’re working away!
Thanks for your patience and support! We look forward to getting to our Beta and involving some of you in the next playtest!
Best, Peter, Lucy, Diego, Carlos, Alexander, Colleen, John and Eric
