Hey, cool. Must've been mind-control, real fast postal service, coincidence or a combination of those: the book was in my mail today! (sent from switzerland). Thank you!

    2. Markus Schiegl on January 21, 2013

Have all books been printed and shipped by now? (at least one going to germany is still missing). TIA.

Any word on when the printed book will be shipped to Japan?

I had a back and forth with Horace a couple weeks ago via email and let him know directly that I had not received the product. I also sent a message via the K/s internal messaging system... anything else I should be doing?

Also added the 10$ via the donate button.

    6. Dmitry Kabanov on July 6, 2012

Transferred the shipping costs via the Donate button. Hope it goes well for others. Can't wait for the release! Thanks Horace.

    7. Abdul Rahman Azhar on June 13, 2012

      Done. Thanks Horace.

    8. Horace Dediu Creator on June 13, 2012

Abdul, yes you can just use the Donate button to contribute shipping costs. There is a comment field where you can mention it.

    9. Abdul Rahman Azhar on June 12, 2012

      Congrats Horace!

Suggestion: for the $10 non-US shipping cost, can I simply contribute this by donating $10 at

    10. Horace Dediu Creator on June 8, 2012

If you have a non-US shipping address, and have not managed to increase your pledge for shipping I will follow-up by email with options outside of Kickstarter.

      Congratulations Horace !

Me, too - I still have to pay another $10 somehow for postage to Brussels...

      Thanks, Kevin

Missed the "$10/international shipping" msg as well. Feels like panic :D
      $35 pledged (Moscow)

    13. Håkon Bogen on June 7, 2012

Didnt see anything about increased price for non-US. How can i pay for the shipping? I pledged 35 for book.

    14. Brandon Gribin on June 7, 2012

Hi Horace - do you know what shipping method you're using yet? USPS? UPS/FedEx? Looking forward to receiving my copy in the next month or two!

    15. Colin Denzel on June 7, 2012

Sorry, that should have read nearly 980% funded :)

      Hi Horace,
I missed to add shipping costs to Europe. What can I do to get the book? How can I pay the extra $10 for shipping?
      Thanks Michael

    20. Roman Rubinstein on June 5, 2012

Horace, congrats! Looks like you'll be about 10x oversubscribed -- a great result out of the gate. Your years of experience and honing your analysis are clearly paying off with the visible uptake in the market.

You probably already thought of this, but if you fund the creating of a package from Asymconf 1.0 (to include video materials and presentation materials) -- either through Kickstarter or other means -- I think you'd get a similar level of interest.

    21. Anthony Kay on June 5, 2012

      That's great, thanks Horace.

    22. Horace Dediu Creator on June 5, 2012

The size is 5.5" x 8.5". The page count will be between 300 and 500 pages.

    23. Anthony Kay on June 5, 2012

Hi Horace, new listener to the podcast and very impressed so far. Regarding the physical book, do you have an approximate idea of the page count at this point? Also, what size are you expecting the book to be? Standard trade-paperback or paperback size? 8.5x11 or A4 size? Just curious as to what it will look like on my bookshelf? Are we talking War and Peace here, or Goodnight Moon? ;-)

    24. Horace Dediu Creator on June 5, 2012

If you are outside the US, add $10 to the pledge to cover international shipping.

Hey Horace, as a backer from Germany, I'm asking myself if shipping is included in the 35$ pledge or will you figure out shipping at a later point?

    26. Horace Dediu Creator on June 4, 2012

If you order multiples of $35 you will receive that multiple of books. So $70 is equivalent to two books and $140 is equivalent to 4 books. (Unless you don't want to).

    27. Ready Chi on June 3, 2012

Long time listener and I love your work, I was wondering if I pledged $70+ I could get a copy for myself and one as a present.
      Thanks again!

In an age of Tweets and OMGs and an ocean of shallow thinking, Hoace is a calm pool of deep thought well-expressed.

That alone warrants sponsorship of this project. The upcoming book will be a welcome bonus!

    29. Toby Delrahim on June 1, 2012

Hey Horace, would also encourage you to add another level of backing for just a bookmark or magnet etc, to future projects for people at a lower price point, you may get a bunch of listeners that would like to just make a token donation, and you should increase the cost of the items that take a lot of work on your part such as creating a book! The hardcore backers probably would have signed up for $40-50 or more anyway. Also good to put in some outrageously higher cost items, similar to putting a high end crazy expensive wine on the menu, it makes all the others look less expensive in comparison - such as a DVD or CD of the original audio podcasts with a follow-up commentary looking back at the discussion from the point of the present, or summarizing the kinds of comments that were received on the website for those podcasts..

    30. Toby Delrahim on June 1, 2012

I'm a long time listener of the program. Going to skim/read the book and then pass it along to some friends that don't do podcasts but would find the material interesting, just getting the book to help support your efforts to get towards 1000 backers. You should definitely publish extra copies for taking along to your speaking engagements. Transcripts and short articles can be read much faster than they can be listened too, so you may have a bigger audience of people that want to consume the material more quickly in book or transcript form.

I'm behind on my podcast listening, but I added $10 (total $45) for international shipping to UK. This is what the Pebble people wanted, so with just 6 days to go, I hope that works out for you. (They also allowed people to sort out shipping later.)

are you contemplating doing some work on telecom network suppliers?

a similar style analysis like the one for the handset prit shre distribution could be very interesting

    33. Alberto de Paola on May 20, 2012

I saw in one of your comments that international shipping will be in line with US posting rates. Do you, or somebody, know those rates for Latin America, more specifically Brazil, in order to update my pledge?

It should be an interesting data point to see the battle of e-book vs printed at the end of this project!

I want the book. But much more than that I want Horace to get paid for what he does. Sharing stuff like the Apple Investor talk was really generous.

Long time listener; read Asymco, wanted to go to conf; but had just traveled from east coast to apple investor conference where I heard you speak so I thought it was overindulgent. You also were very gracious and granted an interview to the blogger instantbight who is my 8th grade son; you made his year- thanks. Just wanted to say thanks for all you do.

Horace, as a long time listener to your show, I am happy to be able to support of this project. Hopefully can have a chance to meet you in person at the next Asymconf in the near future. Maybe the next project should be getting this transcript translated to other languages, Chinese would be a great start.

    41. Axel Bengtsson on May 10, 2012

I just backed $35 and am looking forward to receiving the printed copy, I live in Sweden though so I’m wondering how the shipping will work out? I’m willing to add a couple of extra dollars for the shipping of course.
      Best Regards Axel

I threw in an extra $5.00 in the hopes that it would cover shipping to Canada.
I'm really looking forward to this, I've wished for it numerous times.

Go get 'em Horace, and thank you. As a backer and Asymconf attendee I encourage you to give us more reasons to compensate you for sharing the knowledge and perspectives I bring to my business thanks to you.

    44. Neven Mrgan on May 9, 2012

I'm very happy to have a direct way to compensate Horace for the education he has given me over the past two years. This project is a no-brainer - as a late payment for your writing and discussion so far, as a pre-order for what I'm sure will be a fascinating book, and as an investment in your future projects. Keep it up!

At the moment of this writing 125 backers have pledged $4151. that means the average pledge is $33.208. Just like the company Horace admires, it is reassuring to know for great quality people are not shy to pay higher price. Way to go @asymco. Keep up the good work.

One suggestion : Please specify shipping charges for international mail

    49. Jon Sweet on May 8, 2012

@Steve - what do you mean by "an option for the ebook and the printed book?" - the $25 reward is for the ebook, the $35 reward is for both ebook + printed. There is no print-only option.

    50. Steve Robertson on May 8, 2012

Also: could you do an option for the ebook and the printed book?
