About this project
***IMPORTANT UPDATE / PLEASE READ***
Due to popular demand the miniatures will be printed and cast in 32mm.
(Orbis Aerden: Reign of the Accursed is produced by Dead Eyed Shade Games and is not to be confused with Accursed RPG, published by Melior Via)
Reign of the Accursed is a horror tabletop role-playing game in which the players assume the role of tenebrous godspawns, descendants of the accursed God. These powerful beings once ruled the Aerden but their greediness and disregard for their mortal subjects caused humanity to revolt and drive the tyrants to the brink of extinction. Over the course of centuries the accursed effaced their existence from the sight and history of men, becoming unassailable in obscurity. Tonight they walk the streets of the Aerden in the guise of their prey.
Most of the accursed demigods belong to secret orders, founded by the Primordials, the fathers of each of the 10 bloodlines. The purpose of every order, in one way or another, is to accumulate enough power so as to subjugate the rest and in turn re-emerge and reign over the Aerden as the sole ruler. Until then, most of the orders abide by the rules of their underground society, at least superficially, and vie for power through indirect means, political games, scheming and betrayal. However, there are orders which care little for the accursed society and its rules, and seek to destroy everything that was built along with the architects.
Dance of the Ancients is a 32mm miniature line produced by
Dead Eyed Shade Games for Reign of the Accursed. The miniatures are digitally sculpted, 3D printed and cast in quality resin material. Below, you can see the process of how a miniature is produced from a digital sculpt to a resin cast.
(Note: The resin cast shown below is 54mm while the miniature line has shifted to a 32mm scale. However, since the models are digitally sculpted and 3D-printed there will not be any noticeable difference in the design.)
Orbis Aerden is a fictional horror setting, in a time period that loosely resembles the real Victorian era. However, not everything is the same. Technological advancements like electricity and the steam engine are still in embryonic stages of research and are further hindered and slowed-down by forces whose interests lie against such inventions. As such, travelling and transportation in general, happens through horses, carriages and ships, and lighting depends mostly on oil lamps. Gunpowder and firearms are also a recent invention, with guns being a somewhat uncommon sight due to their still experimental nature and expensive price. Nevertheless, scientific fields like medicine, psychiatry, architecture and engineering have evolved normally, some even further than one would expect for this “dark age”.
The Aerden is vast and richly detailed, with a timeline of over 2500 years of history. The world is comprised by various regions and climates, and its civilized parts are populated mainly by city-states, some more advanced and sophisticated, others less. The Aerden is also host to different cultures, human races and religions as well as political systems such as democracy, oligarchy, tyranny, monarchy etc., thus providing a range of different flavours and opportunities for campaigns. Finally, the city-states of the Aerden are part of a worldwide economy that along with their differences in religion and polities, create a hotbed of geopolitical tensions and rocky diplomatic relations between them. War is an all too common sight in this Orbis.
But the Aerden is also a home to many different kinds of supernatural creatures. Despite their existence and involvement with the human society these entities remain mostly unseen to the human eye. Humanity lives blissfully in ignorance and it would gladly open its house to the wolves that come knocking on its door.
Reign of the Accursed uses an original d10, level-less and class-less system that allows for nearly endless character customization. When creating a character for Reign of the Accursed you get to choose amongst various templates that end up determining what your character is like. We call this system the multi-self and it works as such: You choose a template for your character's physique, personality type, psyche, philosophical views and finally a template for your higher-self*. These templates along with some other factors** determine the starting values of your character's attributes and skills, along with her/his behaviour and personality.
*The higher-self is the wraith that inhabits your character from the point that he or she was delivered into vampirism. Even though it has become one with your character it still strives to impose its will and influence your decisions.
** When you create your character you also get a few character-building points to spend wherever you like. Depending on the campaign you may be also assigned experience points to spend on skills, attributes etc. during character creation.
The combat system in Reign of the Accursed was designed to be as fast paced, realistic and engaging as possible. It is based on a point expenditure system and it is as simple as spending points from a set pool each round so you can perform various actions such as movement, attacks etc. The rounds, however, are short so that everyone can act almost simultaneously and you won't have to wait until the "battlefield" has shifted significantly before it is your turn to engage. This also makes strategic movement and placement in combat interesting as you can predict and potentially counter an enemy's move before it even happens.
Reactive game-play is further worked into the system by allowing you to act out of your turn should certain conditions arise. If you are being attacked in close combat you get the chance to parry or dodge, if someone decides to flee you get the chance to react before your opponent is gone and so on. There are, of-course, certain rules in place that moderate all these conditions so that the spectrum of possible actions and reactions is limited within realistic boundaries.
Further than that, there is a plethora of combat stances and techniques to choose from. Those can alter the way your point expenditure works, alter the requirements needed to achieve or cause certain states and conditions, or allow you to do new things altogether. The possible combinations of combat stances and techniques together with the blood powers that your character can elect to focus on, provide a framework that accommodates an enormous variety of fighting styles. However, the system avoids getting needlessly complicated since everything is based on, or builds upon the basic rules of the game.
We have created the pledge levels to accommodate as many reward combinations as possible. However, if you find that no pledge works for you completely you can add:
£ 12 for the digital (pdf) sourcebook.
£ 10 for each additional miniature you would like to receive.
£ 5 for Chronicle 1: The Masks Fall.
£ 4 for the Reign of the Accursed digital soundtrack.
More Add-Ons will become available as stretch-goals are unlocked.
Once the campaign is over you will be sent a survey where you will be required to confirm your shipping address.
Later, once the production process is finished and it is time to ship your rewards we will be contacting you to ask how you want yours shipped. We will leave it up to you if you would like a fast and/or trackable method, or if you would prefer a basic one but obviously the former would be more expensive than the latter.
We cannot know how much exactly it will cost to ship the rewards, since shipping rates fluctuate, but rest assured that we will be providing the most time and cost efficient options for you since we will be paying for a portion of the shipping ourselves.
The following are examples of how much you would have to pay for the shipping of the hardcover sourcebook, based on the current rates:
UK&Greece £ 5
Rest of Europe £ 10
Rest of the World £ 13-15

Dead Eyed Shade Games is a relatively new company. However, we are collaborating with talented, responsible and experienced artists and writers so we are confident that we can deliver a quality product. We have discussed all possible issues with the printing company that will be responsible for the production of the sourcebook and apart from potential minor delays the production process should go as planned. Furthermore, we have already worked with the professional 3D printing studio that is going to be producing our models. Zealot Miniatures specializes in miniatures production and we are more than satisfied with the quality of their work. We believe that together we can deliver amazing, highly-detailed miniatures that will not only be used for representing combat but also be worthy of display.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
