While You Weren’t Looking takes the essence of a grand swashbuckling adventure and miniaturizes it to a 5-year-old size.

Our young hero Daylen lives a boring life under the watchful eyes of over-protective adults, especially his doting, self-helping mother. Tragically, he’s entered a mid-life crisis at 5-years-old. But while on a grocery trip with his Mom, he spots another boy riding a shopping cart, and sets up an opportunity to steal away the shopping cart from his Mom. After a series of adventures through the store, a now more talkative Daylen reunites with Mom, whose learned a lesson about boys growing up, and they head out to the car, where Daylen still has one trick up his sleeve.

A Seattle filmmaker and visual artist, Jeremy Mackie has served as a film and video technician on numerous short films, music videos, and documentaries. He directed the short film Grey Linings, telling the story a young girl on a photo hunt through the eyes of those living in Seattle, which played at Rainier Independent Film Festival, the One Reel Film Festival, and STIFF. He has been the director of photography of several short films and corporate projects, and served as chief lighting technician on Lynn Shelton’s latest project Seattle $5 Cover as well as Grassroots, The Off Hours and numerous other features and shorts. He has also edited several short films and art projects, including Victory Point, which played at the 2010 Local Sightings Festival, and How to Enter a Bedroom.

While You Weren't Looking is seeking funding through various avenues, with Kickstarter being the perfect one for friends, family and fans of the project to get involved and support the effort.
