All My Ghosts is FINISHED!!!
It's been published by ALTERNA Comics digitally through Comixology and other platforms now we need funds to print physical copies. It's 110 pages and it's dimensions are 7x7. It's even going to be in Diamond and all that jazz we just need to cover the printing costs. There's a release date for February so let's get rolling!!
All MY Ghosts is about a newspaper man named Joe Hale. He owns and operates a local newspaper in a small Appalachian town a lot like mine. Times are tough and the economy is down the tubes so Joe is forced to sell the paper to an outside company that flips dying newspapers. The newspaper has been in Joe’s family for four generations so naturally there is a lot of guilt over his decision. Once the deal is made strange things start to happen… Joe starts slowly slipping out of control and writing abrasive opinion columns that start to piss off his readers and the community. Even Joe's friends and family start to drift away. Not only that but the building itself seems to be reacting to the changes brought on by the buyout. Strange possibly supernatural occurances become more frequent and eventually all of these events snowball into a jarring climax that will change Joe forever.
THIS PROJECT IS VERY NEAR AND DEAR TO ME
I wrote the story, drew the pages and lettered the whole book. While doing this comic my family and I went through a lot of stuff, the death of both of my wife's parents, the birth of my second kid and on and on, and despite that I still finished it myself. The book is about the place I grew up and still live in, the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia. Like in the comic my town is in the middle of a harsh economic recession. The coal industry that once thrived here is all dried up and unemployment has skyrocketed. I wanted to do a book about the area and my experiences in this modern, southern, mountain town.
I struck on the idea of using a newspaper as a backdrop from my own experiences. I worked for a few years at a local newspaper as a graphic designer. Shortly after I started there the company was sold after being in the family of the owners for a number of decades. I also heard stories about noises and disturbances at night from the people who worked there late. Now we could chalk it up to exhaustion but I myself once saw a pretty freaky apparition out of the corner of my eye that rattled me working late one Sunday night. The idea for the book came from this time in my life.
At every level you get THE BOOK! There are also some cool prints available, a t-shirt, this B-horror slasher flick based on a comic I did and of course original page art!! Cool stuff!!!
