Using a whisk is messy. Now no-mess whisking is here! WHISK WIPER wipes the whisk and bowl while conserving food and water, and keeps your whisk and counter clean.
Whisk without getting stuck. Wipe the loops as you pull WHISK WIPER off, gathering the batter on top.
Your frosting belongs on the cake, not in the sink. Return that batter to the bowl with a simple wipe.
Focus on baking instead of cleaning. Catch drips and splatter, keeping your hands and counter clean.
How simple is it? Before whisking, take a moment to line up whisk loops with WHISK WIPER as you pull it on.
When you're finished whisking, simply pull it back off and you'll have a wiped whisk with the food neatly gathered on top.
Whisk Wiper was an idea that came to me when I was cleaning a whisk in my sink, wiping each loop between my fingers, one at a time. I wondered: why can't I wipe them all at once?
I made the first prototype in a day using automotive silicone in a cardboard mold with an aluminum frame. It still works great!
A patent was applied for which has since resulted in two issued patents with more pending. It turns out that this concept was unusually novel, making for very strong patent protection.
My existing businesses from my first patent, Scaredy Cut and Calming Clipper, have been made in the USA for over 5 years and we’ve never looked back. Having domestic production is key to quality control, most of all.
After an exhaustive search, we found a great company to help us produce both the molds and Whisk Wiper itself. We’ve been working with Greg Leighton at C&G Mercury Plastics, which started here in LA in 1947. It’s key that they’re just 20 minutes from our offices.
Finally, the whisk. We searched Los Angeles’ best culinary stores for the perfect whisk. Our search led us to John Merrifield, a manufacturer in Portland who makes some of the best whisks in the world. We will be working with them to produce a perfectly-fitting whisk to be paired with our first batch of WHISK WIPERs.
Going forward, this campaign can allow us to invest further into doing production with this company. Once the tooling is made, the costs are very competitive in producing locally. This makes our product 100% Made in the USA!
Slit design was a challenge. The first prototype had slits that met. This actually just traded one cleaning problem for another as the mix became stuck in the slits once it was pulled off. We solved this by making the slits slightly gapped. As they are still narrower than the wire loops, they clean just as well but cleaning them is as easy as a quick rinse.
It helps to work with a professional in 3D modeling! Some initial attempts I had in working with 3D files resulted in 3D prints that were a disaster in the machine. Plastic, everywhere.
We then proceeded to make over twenty 3D prints with a local company, Purple Platypus. We were able to not only experiment with the form of WHISK WIPER but the 3D printers allowed us to dial in the softness of the plastic. We experimented with everything from Shore A 80 down to 27.
