About

“Clone Training Center” is a groundbreaking project that will bring together some of the best BrickFilm animators the world has to offer, all working together to make one high-quality web series. The animators include, Jordan Johnson (Fancy Pants), Zach Boivin (ZachFB Studios), Spencer Olson (Olsonstudios), Zach Macais (MindGame Studios), and Eric Beaton (TheBeatonFilms). We are negotiating with other well-known animators, so check back for updates!

About “Clone Training Center”

This comedy web series will be based on a video made by Jordan Johnson (Fancy Pants) about four years ago. Set in a fan-adaptation of the Star Wars™ universe, the original video (which has over 4 million views and is also called “Clone Training Center”) tells the story of two new recruits to the clone army: Bridge and Gus. Bridge is a down-to-earth guy just trying to make a good impression on his new commander. Gus is a well-meaning simpleton who bumbles through life, often unintentionally causing trouble.

A few people have asked questions about potential copyright issues involving our show, for information about that, click here.

Previous Work

Jordan's most popular video has been viewed over 7 million times on YouTube. To see more of Jordan's work, click here.

About the Filmmakers

Jordan is the one running the show. He created the original video that this series is based on, and he is the one making all the big decisions about the show. Jordan has been animating with LEGO® since 2008, and his most popular video “Lego – The Force Unleashed” has over 7 million views on YouTube. In 2011, he was hired by LucasArts™ and LEGO® to make a video promoting the "LEGO® Star Wars™ III" video game. To date, his YouTube channel has over 20 million views.

  • Josh Watson (MR Josh) - Producer & Co-Director

Josh runs more of the daily operations of the show. Josh’s expertise is in live action filmmaking and he has worked on several feature films, commercials, and TV shows. Josh began Brickfilming in 2012 and actually learned how to animate from Jordan’s tutorials on YouTube long before the two ever met. He studied filmmaking at Brigham Young University, and has directed numerous short films. His most viewed video on YouTube has over 1 million views and was featured on 4 major news networks across the nation.

  • Courtney Russell - Consulting Producer

Courtney has been working professionally in the film industry for over twenty years. She has produced three feature length films, two of which have been theatrically released, with international distribution. She currently owns and operates Call Me Judy Productions, LLC providing independent feature film, documentary and television Producer services. Check out her past work on IMDb here.

Zach has been posting BrickFilms on YouTube since 2006. His YouTube channel has 10.6 million lifetime views.

Spencer has been animating for about 7 years now, starting when he was 12 years old while playing with LEGO® Star Wars™ figures. His YouTube viewership is over 3 million.

Eric has been making videos since he was really young and it's what he wants to do until he's really old. He has been professionally making videos for the past 6 years.

Zach Started Brickfilming in 2010.  Several of his videos are on the official LEGO YouTube channel, LEGO.com, and Cartoon Network. To date, his youtube channel has 4.7 million views

We are negotiating with several other animators right now, and will post info about them as they sign on.

Where Does Your Money Go?

The number one thing that most people on Kickstarter want to know is, "Where exactly does the money I contribute go?" Here is a basic break down of what the money will be used for. (If you are planning to contribute more than $1,000 and would like to see our Budget Topsheet, please contact us at CloneTrainingCenter@gmail.com)

As you can see, a large portion of our budget is going to the animators and other crew. Paying crew members is often the largest expense when making a film, and these people will be working 8-10 hours a day, 5 days a week, for almost two months, so it's only fair that they are paid a decent wage.

A Word From Jordan Johnson

I’ve always admired the many extremely talented brickfilmers that have created amazing videos over the years. One of the reasons that this project is so important to me is that we are bringing together the best of what the brick filming community has to offer, to produce something fantastic. Nothing like this has been attempted before and so we are very excited to be a part of it! We truly are breaking new ground with this series and if successful we are confident that this series will generate awareness and respect for the many talented artists in the brick filming community. Your contributions will play a major role in the success of this film and we couldn’t do this without you, and so I’d like to thank you in advance for your generous support in helping to bring this series to fruition.

Disclaimer: LEGO® and Star Wars™ are the properties of LEGO® Group of companies and LucasFilm™ respectively, neither group endorses or sponsors this web series, its creators or affiliates in any way.

Risks and challenges

To our knowledge, nothing of this nature has ever been done before, (flying in animators from all over the country to make one large LEGO® web series) and so we are not exactly sure what problems will arise. However, we have prepared as best as we can. The Producer of the show is an experienced film maker with several years of professional filmmaking under his belt, and the Consulting Producer has 20+ years of experience in the film industry and has produced several feature films that are now distributed internationally. We have also built a lot of padding into our budget, so that when things go wrong (because things always go wrong) we have the financial means to handle it.

One large problem we may face, after our funding is completed, is time. Most professional stop motion animators create about 15 seconds of animation per day. On this show, we are planning on each animator creating 17-20 seconds per day. While we feel very confident in their ability to do this, again, nothing like this has ever been done before, and most of the animators have never spent 8-10 hours a day, 5 days a week, doing nothing but animating, so we may run into time issues if our animators have to slow down toward the end.

That being said, once we are funded, this show will get finished one way or another. Both Jordan and Josh (the Co-Directors), are talented Brickfilmers, and even after production is over, if we have not finished the animation, Jordan and Josh will continue working to finish the show.

Hopefully, this project will go incredibly well, and you--the viewers--will greatly enjoy the show.
