The hunt for a legendary sky pirate's treasure. A cursed city risen from the sands. A wayward expedition stranded on the Red Planet. A desperate quest on a mysterious Martian moon.
Perils of Mars contains four pulp adventure scenarios set on the dying and dangerous Red Planet. Player characters will set sail with sky pirates, investigate the ruins of an infamous city, explore a forbidden moon, and search the Martian wasteland for a way home. Each of these adventures can be played by itself or as part of an existing campaign. They can also be linked together or used to launch an epic tale of your own creation. The choice is yours!
Perils of Mars also delivers optional rules and expanded setting material for Gamemasters, including ancient treasures, boarding actions, lunar locations, and more. Use this information to enhance and expand your existing characters and adventures or as inspiration to create brand new stories.
Grab your sword, climb aboard your rocket ship, and get ready to blast off for some out-of-this-world adventure!
In addition to the Perils of Mars hardcover books and generally available add-ons, we still have some limited edition rewards from Revelations of Mars, including Martian Princess miniatures, Revelations dice, and Revelations Style chips. Plus, we were able to put together a few more collector's sets that include hardcover versions of all our books.
We only have so many of each item left, so we allocated them to specific reward levels. If you want one or more of the above items, just pledge at the appropriate level, but be sure to do so early since we may run out of some things sooner than others.
If your pledge level includes physical rewards, such as a hardcover Perils book, you may add any of the following rewards by increasing your pledge by the appropriate amount. On the other hand, you can only add digital rewards to a PDF-only pledge level, such as the BANDIT, MERCENARY, and SPYMASTER levels.

Exploding Ubiquity Dice
If you think surface world shipping rates are expensive, you should see how much it costs us to send things back from Mars! And don't get us started on shipping from inside the Hollow Earth. Packages get lost there all the time.
Fortunately, we have some allies on the surface world who help us out, and we're happy to report that domestic shipping in the United States is already included in each pledge level. Alas, we cannot ship things farther away at the same price, so international backers will still have to pay extra for shipping.
Unfortunately, these costs just recently went up, and while there is not much we can do about that, we will continue to look for better options in the future. For now, rest assured that we've already deducted the amount the domestic shipping amount from the international shipping costs to try and keep them down as much as we can.
Risks and challenges
This is Exile Game Studio's fourth Kickstarter, and we have a track record of delivering on our promises--even if it did take us longer than expected last time. Still, it's perfectly reasonable to ask us the tough question: How do we know Perils won't be delayed?
Well, the reason Revelations took extra time is because the vision needed to get established and new talent had to be found to fill in for some of our go-to people that were no longer available. Plus, we had more than a few stretch goals to deliver on as well, with takes time.
Fortunately, none of this is likely to be a problem with Perils of Mars. The vision for the Red Planet has now been firmly established, and we've already signed up the people we worked with on Revelations to work on this book too. And in this case, the overabundance of stretch goals actually helps us out here.
Thanks to our generous backers, three of the four adventures that will go into Perils are already paid for (and we're already working on them), which means those will be completed no matter what. Additionally, we don't need to ask for much to create the last one and turn them all into a book. Plus, the better this Kickstarter does, the more improvements we can make to the adventures, which makes them better for everyone involved. In short, we're set up for success and have a head start already.
That doesn't mean there won't be unexpected challenges. Freelance writers and artists sometimes turn in work late or drop the ball entirely, but we are better positioned to reassign that work now. Also, if something does go sideways, our backers know that we will communicate honestly about it and work tirelessly until we deliver on the project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
