Hi there!

Thanks so much for taking the time to check out the KickStarter for our film, "The Arbors". Recently graduated from UNCSA's School of Filmmaking, we're a tight team of passionate filmmakers excited about making the move from shorts to our first feature-length film.

Check out some of the work we've already done together!

Over the past four years while attending UNCSA School of Filmmaking we’ve been creating short films both through the school and independently.

We’ve been lucky enough to experience leading large-scale productions with up to 70-member crew sizes and top of the line, industry-standard equipment while also operating under small run-and–gun guerrilla film shoots.

As a strong, passionate team, we love creating shorts in a wide variety of genres, ranging from quirky comedies to Sci-Fi and horror.

And here's what we're doing now!

"The Arbors" Story Synopsis:

Ethan Daunes avoids human interaction by busying his nights with work (locksmith calls) and sleeping away as much of the day as possible. He longs to reconnect with his now distant younger brother, Shane, who has happily settled down with a family of his own.

Working late one night, Ethan finds a strange, insect-like creature. Morbidly fascinated, he decides to take it home, locking it away in his shed. The creature soon begins to grow in size and, after a fatal incident, escapes.

Racked with guilt, Ethan watches as the town is plagued with mysterious deaths, fearing that he is at fault. Realizing that all the deaths are connected to him in some way, he decides he must stop the creature before it hurts the ones he cares about the most.

We’re confident that we can pull off this feature film for an extremely low budget.

We already have experience with stretching low budgets into higher production value through the use of special effects and guerrilla filmmaking techniques.

With special digital effects becoming more accessible today than ever, sometimes the most important effects are the ones you don't ever notice. Whether it's extending a set or removing a wire the production saves money and resources while getting the job done.

While the story is conceptualized around a monstrous creature the actual events in the film all only take place in a small town and are seen through the eyes of one character, Ethan Daunes. Because of this both the story and production are reigned and focused in.

Risks and challenges

Our team is fully aware and prepared to confront the various hurdles that come with starting our first, low-budget independent feature.

Some of these challenges deal with the tight size of our crew and shooting throughout the night for certain scenes within the story. Generally, however, "The Arbors" is a story that was written with the intent to complete fairly simply.

Having past experience with utilizing every amount of our budget and inevitably turning out higher production value, we plan on using the experience we have gained from our rigorous film education at UNCSA and our experience with guerrilla, "run and gun" shoots to efficiently and professionally complete this project.
