Step into a land ravaged by war against a nightmarish adversary, governed by the loose Alliance of the Great Cities. The decimated remains of mankind struggle to rebuild their cities—led by the fabled Vasalli, leaders and paragons of society—while the noble lords indulge in intrigues and power plays.
But with the colossal guardians dying out, the re-emergence of the dreadful Vargans, and the incursions of the mysterious nations from the North, the citizens of the Alliance are slowly coming to understand that their struggles are just beginning.
No one knows exactly why—every once in a while—an ordinary human being goes through the Awakening. Usually in their teenage years, those fated to become Vasalli have fantastic experiences and undergo abnormal changes, which mark them as the few who could rise above the quagmire of ordinary life.
The experience of the Awakening varies from person to person. For some it begins slowly, building up until they gain the full control over their powers. For others it happens abruptly and violently, often driven by shock or a terrifying situation.
So too do the Vasalli vary, from self-absorbed power-hoarders to paragons of virtue. The great powers of the Vasalli open many to them. Driven by their impulsive nature, they go on extraordinary life-journeys that affect them profoundly, sometimes even more than ordinary folk.
▼Fast, Fluid, and Intuitive: We’ve designed Awaken to help new players become comfortable with the basics of roleplaying games, while allowing experienced RPG players a lot of freedom in how they approach tasks and problems. We only use common six-sided dice, making it easy for anyone to play Awaken.
▼Encourages Creativity: Creativity is an essential part of any RPG, so Awaken helps players approach the story in creative ways. By mixing and matching skills, players receive bonuses for creativity and imagination.
▼Picture Rule: Before rolling any dice pool, if a player actively describes the action in a vivid, creative, and picturesque way in game (hence the name), the Narrator can reward her with 1 to 3 bonus dice for her proactive participation. For particularly creative descriptions, the Narrator can even skip the roll and reward the player with an automatic success.
▼Unhampered Character Creation: Character creation is quick and simple, designed to give you the freedom to follow your vision and create characters without restrictions, choosing and mixing their skills, attributes, and Gifts—the special powers of the Vasalli.
▼Skill-based Developement: The character development is skill-based, depending on how you use their abilities; the players develop their skills by applying them and can see their alter egos growing through the game
▼Forge Your Own Destiny: In Awaken, the Narrator helps the players pave their own roads and tell their own stories. A full-color, softcover core-book of Awaken has everything you need to understand the world of Awaken. In it you’ll find detailed descriptions of the setting, the Vasalli and their powers, the Great Cities, political forces, wonders of the world, and much more. The core book also includes the rules for creating characters, using the system, encounters and gifts. It describes creatures and antagonists, and gives some advice to Narrators on breathing life into your campaigns.

The biggest among the Great Cities of Alliance and probably the oldest. Founded more than 10 000 years ago, it grew from a small settlement to a big city and one of the most important trading hubs in the Alliance. In the heart of Jarillo stands a Great Pyramid which is allegedly the sleeping place of Azimoth, the god of the official religion. The city has three parts; Inner Ring, Outer Ring and Outskirts, separated with two walls.
Once you select a reward level, you can add more rewards by increasing your pledge. You'll be able to check your pledge and tell us which add-ons you want after the Kickstarter campaign is over.

Risks and challenges
Writing and Editing: The rules are done, and we’ve been playing the game for a year. The game has been thoroughly playtested and demonstrated at conventions. We are confident in our ability to deliver a product that is both well designed and written. The book is laid out; and we just need to finish the art, and finalize some setting writing, and get everything edited.
Art and Layout: Most of the art is done, although some parts still remain to be done. Because we're a small team, scheduling conflicts are always a risk, but it's minimal and we feel confident we can overcome any hiccups and delays.
Printing and Shipping: Until we have a final layout, we can only work with estimated times for printing and shipping. We’re working with professionals, though, so we have a good idea what to expect here. Also, please note that shipping to different parts of the world will take different amounts of time.
All in all, we may have to make minor changes in schedule or scope, especially with add-ons and stretch goals, but we anticipate being able to provide a high-quality product, delivered on time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
