The H.P. Lovecraft Literary Podcast (hppodcraft.com) has been running since 2009 and has only done one live show - in England. This time, we'd like to rock it live and in person at the 2013 NecronomiCon in Providence, RI - August 23 - 25th. USA! USA!
This Kickstarter is not just about a live show, we want to create a audio documentary on Lovecraft fandom. We're hoping to talk to Lovecraftian scholars as well as fans to paint a picture of why the old man has such a grip on us all.
With all this time, love and energy we've put into HPL, it really is a tragedy that neither Chris nor Chad have been to the Lovecraftian Holy Land. Please help us correct this.
We're coming from the California and the UK - the money we raise will pay for our travel and lodging when we're in New England. As well as new audio equipment for this special recording.
All audio will be exclusively for backers of this Kickstarter. So if you can't make it to Providence, you can still be part of the fun!
Folks were asking and this is what we're offering!
5K - ACHIEVED - FIFER AND LACKEY: JOURNEY TO THE PROMISED LAND - We'll record our own story and edit together a special episode about our travel to the Lovecraftian Holy Land. We'll talk about our thoughts and feelings as we go on a tour of providence, see each other again and meet with old and new friends.
6K - CHRIS AND CHAD GO BACK TO SCHOOL- Since creating the HPPodcraft show format, we've wanted to expand past weird lit. This will allow us to produce a pilot episode of "Chris and Chad Go Back to School" - an all ages show for both students and those who wish they'd studied a little harder. This show format will be slightly different, including multiple interviews with scholars and students.
8K - THE YELLOW WALLPAPER - we'll produce an audio version of "The Yellow Wallpaper" with reader Heather Klinke.
10K - TELEVISION - This will help fund a pilot TV version of our show to pitch, tentatively entitled "The Short Story." The show would feature a round table discussion of a story, and readings would be multi-media segments, with animated art, theater, etc.
Risks and challenges
The only real risk is if the convention is cancelled, one of us gets turned into a ghoul or there is some kind of apocalypse. We get funded, we're going to Providence!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
